CT Technologist WE Program

Job Summary CT Technologist at Intermountain Health. Perform a variety of CT procedures, use ingenuity, initiative, and independent judgement to obtain high‑quality scans. Shift Details & Location Full‑time (36 hours per week), Friday – Sunday, 7 pm–7:30 am. Platte Valley Hospital, Brighton, Colorado. Responsibilities Maintains ARRT competency in all clinical and technical functions of the job. Understands and operates CT equipment and related information systems appropriately to ensure production of quality images. Ensures proper patient identification, order verification, and prepares the patient for the exam. Performs exams per departmental protocol. Reviews and evaluates images for quality, clarity, and accuracy, ensuring that all necessary anatomical structures are captured. Adheres to radiation safety guidelines and maintains a safe working environment for patients and staff. Completes studies within acceptable time limitations per departmental expectations without compromising patient care or the quality of the examination. Provides appropriate patient education, ensures patient comfort, and addresses patient and/or family concerns. Coordinates patient care and communicates pertinent information to other patient‑care providers following procedure. Practices appropriate infection control and sterile techniques. Keeps accurate records of patient information, procedures performed, and any adverse reactions or incidents. Follows appropriate protocol for medical necessity, coding and charging, obtaining necessary consents, maintaining applicable QC program and reporting any equipment failures or problems. As ordered by the physician and under radiologist or physician supervision administers contrast media to patients per protocol and provides education to patients regarding safety concerns inherent to contrast administration. Stays updated with the latest advancements in CT technology, techniques, and protocols by participating in continuing education and professional development activities. Assists and instructs students and other radiology technologists in exam protocols, procedures, positioning, and equipment. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications 1–2 years of work experience. Preferred Qualifications 1–2 years of CT experience in a healthcare setting. Demonstrates understanding of sectional anatomy, anatomic terminology, and positioning competency. Demonstrates proficiency in operating CT equipment with a strong understanding of CT imaging techniques and protocols. Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of protocols relating to contrast administration, including contrast injector operation as applicable. Demonstrates understanding and proficiency with electronic imaging, including ability to view, transfer and manipulate images. Recognizes emergent patient situations and can respond appropriately. Ability to function independently and as part of a team. Ability to interact and communicate effectively with other caregivers and patients. Ability to prioritize tasks. Maintains a clean, neat, and safe environment for patients and staff. Demonstrates proficiency in BLS, contrast, IV competency, etc. (see Certifications below). Licenses and Certifications Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) within 60 days, required. ARRT – American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (R) upon hiring, required. Certified Computed Tomography Technologist – American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (R)(CT), preferred. Licensure in state of practice as applicable, upon hiring, required. IV Competency within 90 days, required. For caregivers hired in this role in the state of Colorado, a Fluoroscopy certification, preferred. Specific facility‑based certification may also be required for this role. If this applies, each facility will define and manage compliance. 1–2 years’ work experience, CT experience in a hospital setting, preferred. Physical Demands Requires frequent interactions with patient‑care providers, patients, and visitors, and the ability to verbally communicate, hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, especially during emergency situations. Requires manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy, including frequent computer use and typing for documentation. Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients; also will bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment, typically including items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items. Requires walking and assisting with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment, including pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time. For roles requiring driving, expected to drive a vehicle that requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles. Compensation Hourly rate: $35.25 – $54.39, depending on experience.
