Key Responsibilities:

• Set up, maintain, and troubleshoot medically prescribed respiratory equipment, ensuring proper functioning and compliance with safety standards.
• Provide personalized patient care focused on meeting individual respiratory needs and goals, delivering high-quality treatment in accordance with clinical protocols.
• Educate patients and caregivers on the proper use and maintenance of ventilators and other DME respiratory devices to promote safety and independence.
• Conduct follow-up assessments on respiratory equipment to ensure optimal performance and patient outcomes.
• Evaluate the effects of respiratory therapy plans by monitoring patient progress, documenting observations, and recommending adjustments as needed.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate discharge planning and integrate respiratory care into overall treatment plans.
• Accurately document all patient interactions and services provided in electronic health records, maintaining thorough and compliant records.
• Maintain a safe and clean clinical environment by adhering to infection control policies, safety procedures, and OSHA regulations.
• Perform preventive maintenance on respiratory equipment, troubleshoot malfunctions, and coordinate repairs to ensure continuous, reliable operation.
• Stay current with advancements in respiratory therapy through ongoing education, participation in workshops, and professional networking.
• Provide training and mentorship to respiratory therapy staff, enhancing team skills and knowledge.
• Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and certification standards, proactively monitoring changes in legislation and updating practices accordingly.
• Contribute to a collaborative team environment by assisting colleagues and participating in department initiatives.

Qualifications:

• A minimum of a 2-year college degree in Respiratory Therapy or a related field.
• Valid driver's license issued in the applicant's state of residence.
• Proven DME experience, particularly with ventilators and respiratory equipment.
• Strong bedside manner and excellent physiological knowledge.
• Proficiency in infection control, patient education, and healthcare safety protocols.
• Effective verbal communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Sound judgment, procedural proficiency, and strong interpersonal skills.
