Your role at a glance The Data Center Technician is responsible for maintaining the operational integrity and regulatory compliance of the data center’s electrical, mechanical, and fire‑life‑safety systems. The technician follows processes that maximize customer uptime cost‑effectively, identifies and repairs problems quickly, manages contractor quality, and meets internal customer demands. What we are looking for Key Roles and Responsibilities: Develop creative approaches to keep operational costs to a minimum and improve efficiency. Implement new strategies and manage systems in the following areas: mechanical (chilled water, HVAC, CRAC/CRAH, humidification), electrical (critical power distribution, UPS), fire‑life‑safety (sprinkler systems and detection devices), and building monitoring and control. Test electromechanical assemblies, read blueprints and schematics, inspect parts, install electrical or electronic components, and operate hand or power tools. Monitor and respond to abnormal conditions, coordinate with contractors, and maintain preventive and predictive maintenance programs. Analyze systems to recommend technologies that enhance efficiency and reduce cost while ensuring maximum operational reliability. Knowledge, Skills and Attributes: Understanding of data‑center mechanical, electrical, and fire‑life‑safety systems, including NEC, NFPA 70E, NFPA 72, NFPA 25, and related building codes. Proficiency in industrial safety best practices, data trending/tracking, and integrated monitoring systems. Hands‑on experience with large commercial and industrial systems such as chillers, cooling towers, heat exchangers, VFDs, pumps, HVAC equipment, CRAC/CRAH, humidifiers, BMS/PLC controls, emergency stand‑by diesel generators, fuel/Oil systems, and UPS systems. Strong communication skills, teamwork, coordination of contractors, quick learning, logical problem‑solving, multitasking, and ability to operate hand/ power tools and forklifts. Availability for shifts that may include nights, holidays, and weekends. Academic Qualifications and Certifications: Relevant high‑school diploma or equivalent, plus advanced qualification or work‑related experience. Certifications such as CPR/First Aid, NFPA 70E, and OSHA‑approved forklift, or willingness to obtain them during employment. Solid experience in a data‑center facilities role, critical facilities maintenance, and leadership in a mechanical/electrical position. Compensation Pay Range This position requires onsite work at a data center facility and may require use of a personal mobile device. A monthly stipend will be provided for the use of a personal device, if applicable. NTT Global Data Centers Americas, Inc. offers competitive compensation based on experience, education, and location. Hourly base salary for this position is $33.90 – $50.90 and is eligible for overtime pay in accordance with local state and federal ‘Wage and Hour’ requirements. All regular full‑time employees are eligible for an annual bonus; payout is dependent upon individual and company performance.
