Academia and Health Services Postdoc Fellow

The Academia and Health Services Research Postdoctoral Fellowship Program at Texas Southern University offers postdoctoral PharmD or allied health professional (e.g., Ph.D. nursing, counseling, clinical psychology) the foundational scientific and career development training necessary for a successful career in academia and health services research. This is a two-year fellowship program. The fellow will receive research training and individualized one-on-one research mentoring, supported by a multidisciplinary team of investigators with social, behavioral, public health, and clinical expertise in minority health and health disparity research. This is a full-time research training experience that includes opportunities to conduct clinical, social, and/or behavioral research using community-based participatory methods. The ideal candidate for this position will be an individual who completed the Doctor of Pharmacy or a doctoral allied health professional (e.g. nursing, counseling, clinical psychology) program with a desire to pursue an academic career.

Essential duties include research training and education, community engagement and health outreach, clinical service, and teaching. The position requires a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) or equivalent allied health doctoral degree from an accredited institution with active license in the state of Texas in good standing or able to acquire licensure within 90 days after employment. Additional training or certification in public health, social determinants of health, or related fields is preferred. Bilingual skills, such as Spanish or Asian dialects, are also desired.

The fellow should have demonstrated skills in computer software applications, ability to work in a team-based environment, and cultural competency and sensitivity to the needs of diverse populations. The position also requires excellent interpersonal skills, written and verbal skills, and public speaking skills. The ability to independently use technology, virtual meeting platforms, and adhere to organizational objectives is essential.

The position is open to all applicants and is funded by a grant. The hiring range is commensurate with experience. The position end date is not specified.
