Immediate opening for a  Technical Sales and Support Scientist in  San Diego, CA who possesses:

• 4+ years of lab bench experience in a biology-related industry; robotics or laboratory automation experience is a plus
• Experience working for a small company, startup, or similar environment where they have worn multiple hats
• Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, or a related field required
• Strong customer relationship skills with excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently, take initiative, and ask questions to drive results

FULL DESCRIPTION:   We are seeking a Technical Sales and Support Scientist to join a growing life science equipment company in San Diego. This role combines technical sales, customer support, product development, applied research, testing, validation, and trade show support. The ideal candidate will bring strong laboratory bench experience, a biology-related educational background, and the ability to communicate with scientists and customers about technical products, applications, and research workflows. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys working independently, building customer relationships, supporting product growth, and helping translate customer needs into practical product solutions.

The selected candidate will be responsible for:

• Engaging with customers to provide technical information and recommend suitable products
• Maintaining in-depth knowledge of the product line, capabilities, and customer applications
• Articulating and selling the technical aspects of the product portfolio
• Preparing formal quotes for customers
• Supporting lead generation, outbound customer outreach, and follow-up from trade shows and prior customer activity
• Building customer relationships and identifying opportunities to grow new business
• Troubleshooting technical issues and providing customer support
• Collaborating on the development of new products to meet customer needs and expand the product line
• Working with customers to determine product specifications and communicating those needs to engineers, production managers, and vendors
• Supporting product testing, validation, and applied research projects
• Designing and executing experimental projects to test new and existing products
• Documenting findings in reports, blogs, or other technical materials to support customer education and product promotion
• Developing validation assays for quality assurance and data gathering
• Representing the company at trade shows, conferences, seminars, and webinars
• Presenting the product line and explaining how specific products support customer applications
• Supporting trade show preparation, setup, booth support, packing, travel, and follow-up
• Collaborating with internal sales, product development, engineering, production, and customer support teams

The selected candidate will also possess:

• Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, or a related field required
• Minimum 4 years of laboratory bench experience required
• Thorough understanding of scientific principles and laboratory workflows
• Knowledge of life science, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or laboratory automation fields preferred
• Experience with DNA, protein, bead purification, next generation sequencing, compound library screening, or assay development preferred
• Robotics or laboratory automation experience is a plus
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong customer relationship skills and ability to speak with scientific customers about technical needs
• Commercial mindset with interest in technical sales and business development
• Detail-oriented, highly motivated, and comfortable taking initiative
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
• Experience working in a small company, startup, or environment requiring flexibility and wearing multiple hats preferred
• Ability to work onsite in San Diego
• Ability to work a flexible 40-hour schedule and stay until the job is complete as needed
• Ability to travel for approximately 5 to 6 trade shows per year, customer demonstrations, or related business needs

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods while managing customer communication, quotes, technical documentation, and product information
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and move throughout laboratory, office, production, and trade show environments as needed
• Ability to handle laboratory equipment, research devices, product samples, and demonstration materials
• Ability to assist with trade show setup and breakdown, including moving crates, packing materials, and product displays as needed
• Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, by email, and through video meetings
• Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull standard office, laboratory, trade show, or product materials
• Ability to travel by car or plane for trade shows, conferences, customer demonstrations, and related business needs

Salary Range: $90,000 to $120,000/year
