Job Title Medical Technologist Location Port St. Lucie, Florida Facility Saint Lucie West Med Center Department SLW Laboratories-Cleveland Clinic Martin Health Shift Night shift: 9:00pm‑7:30am or 10:00pm‑6:30am, Monday‑Friday, rotating weekends and holidays. Job Summary Join the Cleveland Clinic Martin Health team in sunny Florida where you will work alongside passionate caregivers and provide patient‑first healthcare. As a Medical Technologist, you will perform and interpret tests at all complexity levels, using theories and technical, procedural and problem‑solving aspects of Laboratory Science to aid in determining the best mode of care for patients. This position offers a rewarding opportunity to expand your knowledge through extensive hands‑on experience. Key Responsibilities Conduct quality laboratory testing and result reporting. Ensure results are reported in compliance with departmental, hospital, and accrediting organization standards (AHCA, CLIA, COLA, JCAHO). Accurately identify patient specimens and testing orders; ensure results are accurate and reported promptly. Ensure specimen integrity and identify and resolve specimens that do not meet testing criteria. Identify and resolve pending specimen results within the laboratory information system for assigned departments. Report pertinent information (panic values, instrument malfunctions, testing delays, reagent or supply depletion) to physicians or supervisors. Track “dates opened” and “expiration dates”; use reagents and controls only within expiration limits. Maintain cleanliness, organization, and stock of work area. Follow troubleshooting procedures to correct deficiencies or problems with instruments and equipment. Ensure instrument operation is reliable; perform maintenance checks, startups, and shutdowns as needed. Answer the telephone, greet customers and provide consult and technical support to physicians, phlebotomists, and nursing staff. Follow quality control policy; ensure controls are within acceptable limits before patient results are reported. Document quality control and out‑of‑range results appropriately. Minimum Qualifications Associate’s Degree in Chemical Sciences, Physical Sciences, Biological Sciences, Medical Technology or equivalent. Licensed technologist in the State of Florida. One or more additional licenses in Microbiology, Immunohematology or other specialties. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Sciences, Physical Sciences, Biological Sciences or Medical Technology. ASCP certification. At least one year of clinical experience. Additional licenses in Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Blood Bank/Transfusion Medicine or Serology. Physical Requirements Turning, stooping, bending, stretching, walking and standing. Average lifting of 10 pounds, occasional up to 20 pounds. Ability to file, move records, laboratory supplies, and equipment. Effective oral, written and typed communication skills. Finger dexterity and eye‑hand coordination to operate computer keyboard. Mental demands: work at a fast pace, prioritize tasks, resolve conflicts, collaborate with team, ensure operational efficiency, problem solve, self‑control and tolerance of stress. Use of personal protective equipment required; potential exposure to biohazardous or infectious agents. Confidentiality: access to medical records for charting and correcting laboratory results; limited to necessary amount.
