Payroll Specialist

Vaco has partnered with a highly respected organization seeking a Payroll Specialist with strong high-volume payroll processing experience.

Job Title: Payroll Specialist


Location: Tempe, AZ


Pay Rate: $25-$30 /hour


Responsibilities:

• Process high-volume payroll transactions for approximately 1,000 employees while ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Audit, validate, and reconcile time entry batches, labor records, and payroll reports.
• Process off-cycle payments, payroll adjustments, corrections, and final paychecks.
• Support certified payroll reporting, prevailing wage compliance, garnishments, and payroll tax activities.
• Respond to employee payroll inquiries and generate payroll-related reports as needed.

Qualifications:

• 3-5 years of payroll processing experience.
• Experience supporting high-volume payroll operations.
• Strong Excel skills including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and conditional formatting.
• Experience with payroll software and ERP systems; JD Edwards preferred.
• Construction, manufacturing, certified payroll, or multi-state payroll experience highly preferred.
