About the Role
The Company is seeking an Executive Director of Board Development to provide strategic leadership in the cultivation, recruitment, and engagement of volunteer leaders across its first-tier organizations. The successful candidate will be responsible for the development and implementation of a comprehensive board development program that aligns with organizational priorities, promotes philanthropic engagement, and fosters a diverse and inclusive leadership environment. This role involves close partnership with governance and system teams to ensure that board development practices are in line with governance standards and processes. The Executive Director will also be a key advisor and support for board development initiatives, working to create an exceptional engagement experience for trustees and committee members. Candidates for the Executive Director position must have a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 10-15 years' experience in philanthropy, volunteer leadership, board development, nonprofit management, or a related field, with at least 5 years in a leadership and staff management role. Experience in healthcare, academic medicine, or large nonprofit systems is strongly preferred. The role requires a proven track record in building relationships and working effectively with high-level stakeholders, as well as expertise in board development, volunteer leadership engagement, and philanthropic practices. The ideal candidate will have advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, CRM platforms, and board management systems, and experience in diversity-focused board recruitment and inclusion initiatives. The Executive Director will be expected to make complex, strategic decisions, and to lead a high-performing team with a focus on collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
