Vice President of Fleet Strategy and Capital Planning Position Summary: The Vice President of Fleet Strategy and Capital Planning is responsible for developing and executing the company’s long‑term fleet strategy, capital investment planning, and asset lifecycle management. This role ensures that fleet expansion, replacement, and optimization initiatives align with organizational goals, operational efficiency, and financial performance. The VP collaborates closely with the VP of Fleet Maintenance Operations, Area Presidents, Division Vice Presidents, and other senior leaders to support data‑driven decisions, sustainable fleet growth, and strategic capital allocation. Essential Job Functions: Develop and implement a comprehensive fleet strategy that supports operational growth, efficiency, and sustainability objectives. Led long-term capital planning for fleet acquisition, replacement cycles, and asset lifecycle optimization. Evaluate fleet performance metrics and total cost of ownership to make informed investment decisions. Collaborate with Finance, Operations, and Maintenance teams to establish annual fleet budgets and capital expenditure plans. Identify and analyze emerging fleet technologies, alternative fuels, and innovative solutions to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs. Oversee vendor and supplier relationships for fleet acquisitions, and capital projects. Monitor fleet utilization, capacity, and replacement schedules to optimize fleet size and composition. Provide regular reporting and recommendations to Executive Leadership regarding fleet strategy, capital expenditures, and performance metrics. Partner with the VP of Fleet Maintenance Operations to ensure alignment between strategic planning and operational execution. Develop frameworks for risk management, compliance, and regulatory adherence in fleet acquisition and planning. Drive cross-functional projects related to fleet expansion, modernization, and sustainability initiatives. Lead the transition roadmap for alternative fuels and electrification (EV, CNG, renewable diesel, hydrogen, etc.), including infrastructure, vehicle technology, and cost modeling. Build and maintain strategic relationships with key suppliers & OEMs. Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Logistics, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s preferred). 10+ years of experience in fleet strategy, capital planning, or related operational leadership roles. Proven track record in developing and implementing fleet strategies or large‑scale capital programs. Strong financial acumen and experience managing budgets, P&L, or large capital projects. Experience with data analytics, fleet management systems, and performance metrics. Excellent leadership, collaboration, and communication skills. Preferred Qualifications: MBA or advanced degree in a related field. Knowledge of sustainability initiatives and alternative fuel solutions. Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or process improvement methodologies.
