Position Overview Clinical Psychologist VI at The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD Responsible for psychological evaluations, including court‑ordered evaluations and consultations for services as designated by the criminal/juvenile court system for individuals with mental disabilities. Duties include collaborating with court staff and supervising designated staff/interns. Your Role In Action Directs and monitors the quality of day‑to‑day clinical activities of the program. Conducts fitness to proceed, lack of responsibility, certification evaluations and other court ordered evaluations, completing written reports within required timeframes and providing court testimony relating to evaluation results as requested. Serves as a clinical lead on assigned juvenile cases involved in the court system. Effectively interacts with judges, attorneys, and other court staff in the collection of information and collaboration on assigned cases. Facilitates didactic experiences for clinicians, including group supervision and training opportunities within the agency and the community. Complies with agency policies and procedures, accrediting/regulator bodies and performance contract documentation requirements. Supervises master’s level clinicians, practicum, and doctoral interns/students (APA‑accredited doctoral internship program), licensed providers, including staffing cases, reviewing reports and notes, and addressing crises in both institutions or within the community. Oversees internship program planning and coordination with interagency collaboration. Ensures ongoing monitoring of compliance with internship program requirements. Collaborates with Juvenile Forensic Program Director to ensure needs of the court system are met. Meets divisional productivity standards. Performs related work as assigned and adapts to changing work requirements. Education Doctoral Degree (Ph.D.) or equivalent. Experience At least 5 years’ experience with clinical/psychological assessments of individuals with mental illness. Other Key Qualifications Licensed as a Psychologist in the State of Texas, or Ph.D. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of psychological assessment/competency and sanity criteria. Knowledge of diagnostic criteria, specific clinical features and guidelines for formulating a diagnosis. Knowledge of court requirements for competency and sanity evaluations. Strong diagnostic skills, the ability to incorporate patient history, symptoms, environmental and related issues to formulate proper diagnosis and treatment recommendations. Strong communication skills, listening and interpersonal skills above average, written documentation is clear, concise and well‑constructed. Effective time management and organization skills. Able to execute standard word processing software on the computer.
