Clinical Intake Assesor

$50 per week

Archdiocese of St Louis

Since its founding in 1985, Queen of Peace Center (QOPC) has been providing family-centered behavioral healthcare for women, children, and families. As a member of the Federation of Catholic Charities, we serve the metropolitan and surrounding St. Louis area through four core programs: prevention, education, treatment, and housing.

POSITION SUMMARY

The QOPC Clinical Assessor serves as both a welcoming first point of contact and a skilled clinical professional for individuals seeking services. In this role, you will build trusting relationships with new clients while conducting thorough psychosocial and diagnostic assessments to determine eligibility and service needs. Using your clinical judgment, you will help guide clients into the programs that best support their goals and well-being.

OVERVIEW AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide professional, trauma-informed, and efficient delivery of CSTAR diagnostic and intake services in accordance with approved policies, procedures, and clinical standards.
  • Conduct comprehensive intake assessments and determine appropriate program placement. Educate clients about available services, treatment options, and program expectations to support informed participation in care.
  • Administer and interpret a variety of screening and assessment tools related to substance use, mental health, trauma history, and functional status.
  • Provide individual counseling, clinical assessments, and referrals. Support clients in developing individualized goals and treatment plans that promote recovery, stability, and improved functioning.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation, including assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and updates in accordance with Department of Mental Health (DMH), COA, and agency standards.
  • Coordinate with external providers and community resources, including detoxification and treatment centers, recovery support groups, and partner agencies such as Alcoholics Anonymous and Catholic Charities programs.
  • Participate in staff meetings, case consultations, clinical supervision, and interdisciplinary team collaboration to support coordinated client care and program effectiveness.
  • Facilitate group sessions and contribute to program development and implementation as needed.
  • Maintain ongoing professional development by participating in continuing education, professional associations, and relevant training opportunities.
  • Promote and model appropriate professional conduct, personal hygiene, and safe, respectful use of agency facilities for staff and clients.
  • Meet established productivity and billing expectations in accordance with agency and funding requirements.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a closely related behavioral health field.
  • Current Missouri licensure preferred, including PLPC, LPC, LMFT, or LCSW.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience providing treatment for substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting clinical assessments and assigning DSM-based diagnoses.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary treatment team while maintaining professional and ethical clinical standards.
  • Experience working respectfully and effectively with individuals from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, and life backgrounds.
  • Strong interpersonal, documentation, and clinical decision-making skills.
  • Clinical Supervision Support:
  • Supervision assistance or internal supervision is available for Provisionally Licensed Professional Counselors (PLPC).
  • Internal supervision is offered at a rate of $50 per week for eligible candidates.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES REQUIRED
  • Demonstrated commitment to the mission and values of the Queen of Peace Center and adherence to ethical and professional standards, including HIPAA and mandated reporting requirements.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to establish rapport, gather clinical information, and effectively engage individuals in treatment and recovery.
  • Knowledge of substance use disorders, addictive behaviors, co-occurring mental health conditions, trauma-informed care, and suicide prevention.
  • Ability to screen for intoxication, withdrawal symptoms, risk of harm to self or others, co-occurring mental health concerns, and acute psychiatric crises.
  • Ability to analyze assessment data and collaborate with clients to develop measurable, person-centered treatment goals and recommendations.
  • Utilizes evidence-based practices and a person-centered, recovery-oriented approach that promotes health, wellness, and client empowerment.
  • Demonstrates cultural competence and the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Understanding of medications used to treat substance use disorders and the stages of recovery.
  • Participation in ongoing clinical supervision, required training (including ASAM), and professional development.

Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Outlook, with strong organizational and problem-solving skills
