Staff Data Scientist, Forecasting

Salary: $164,695 - 339,078 per year Requirements:

• We want someone with 8+ years of combined academic and industry experience after graduate study, building and deploying production forecasting or time-series models on web-scale data.
• We need a proven history of delivering flexible, well-calibrated, and explainable forecasting systems that support decision-making.
• We are looking for deep expertise in time-series modeling and applied statistics/econometrics; an advanced degree such as an MS or PhD is preferred.
• We require strong proficiency in at least one scripting language, ideally Python.
• We need advanced SQL capability, including Hive, Presto, or Spark SQL, plus experience creating dependable data pipelines and workflows such as Airflow.
• We value strong business judgment and an ownership mindset, with the ability to simplify complex problems, connect model output to business drivers, and prioritize for impact.
• We expect excellent communication skills, including the ability to turn complex analyses and uncertainty into concise executive-ready narratives.
• We look for demonstrated technical leadership, including leading critical initiatives and significantly influencing the scope and output of other contributors.

• We will have you serve as the technical lead for our forecasting team, owning the strategy and implementation of models for key company metrics such as monthly active users.
• You will lead the full modeling lifecycle from end to end, including problem framing, feature design, model development, prototyping, experimentation, backtesting, deployment, monitoring, drift detection, and explainability.
• You will define our forecasting technical direction, establish model architectures and standards, and partner with Engineering to evolve our forecasting platform for efficient training and inference.
• You will turn forecasts into actionable decisions by presenting outputs, scenario analysis, and recommendation frameworks to senior leadership with clarity and brevity.
• You will extend time-series work beyond point forecasts into areas such as anomaly detection, automated root-cause analysis, campaign or channel attribution, and early-warning signals for business health.
• You will embed forecasting into our business processes by partnering with BizOps, Finance, and product teams to integrate insights into operating cadences, executive decisions, and strategic planning.
• You will lead and mentor at least two data scientists, raising the standard for technical quality, execution, and impact through ongoing feedback and coaching.
