Permit & Utility Clerk TYPE: Full Time HOURS: Typically M-F 8:00 to 5:00 BENEFITS: Full REPORTS TO: City Administrator & Public Works Director

GENERAL SUMMARY

The City of Westworth Village has a population of 3500 and is located in western Tarrant County. Westworth Village is uniquely diverse with a developing business district along State Highway 183, established and newly built residential areas, municipal golf course, country club with golf course, apartment living and shared boundaries with the Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base. POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Education, Training & Experience: Associate Degree with at least 3 years office administration experience; OR any combination of preferred specialty skill sets along with a minimum of 5 or more years of office or management experience. Preferred Specialty Skill Sets: Utilities Accounts & Billing or accounting Building Permits/Code Enforcement Records Retention Municipal Court Clerk Other area of municipal administration Advanced computer and internet skills required (Office 365); INCODE software preferred. This position handles money, therefore, must be able to pass a detailed background check. Primary Job Duties/Responsibilities: Establish and maintain an effective working relationship with general public, co-workers and City Officials through excellent customer service and communication skills via phone, email or in person, to answer questions, disseminate or explain information, take orders and address complaints, etc Generate business documents: letters, invoices, policies, permits, work orders, reports, spreadsheets, correspondence, messages, emails, faxes Coordinate all facets of required state and local compliance reports (TCEQ, Tarrant County Public Health, AMA, etc.) including meeting filing deadlines, data collection, and publication. Manage utility accounts; set up, bill for services, receive and post payments, issue credits, update information, collections, and close accounts Maintain business documents: copy, sort, file, mail, etc. in accordance with the Records Retention Schedule Knowledge of or ability to research and learn state and local laws, policies, codes, and regulations Handle confidential matters with discretion Understand and follow oral and written instructions Communicate clearly and effectively, orally and in writing, both physically and electronically Cross-training required to cover basic job duties in the absence of the municipal court clerk, and permit clerk positions. Work all city sponsored events, including Fall Festival, Spring Fling, and Santa Day/Tree Lighting, etc. Physical Duties are generally performed within the city limits in an indoor setting. On occasions, there will be times that services are to be performed outside. The physical demands and work environment are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the principal duties and responsibilities (essential functions) of this position or which the employee will encounter. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be subject to prolonged periods of sitting and may frequently be required to stand, walk, reach, kneel and bend. The employee must have normal vision, hearing and understandable articulation. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move 40-pound objects, climb up and down a three rung step ladder, while reaching above head, etc. The noise level of the work environment ranges from generally quiet to moderately loud.
