ED RN

The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department provides skilled nursing care in a fast-paced adult community emergency setting. This role involves managing acute medical cases including stroke, STEMI, sepsis, respiratory, cardiac, and orthopedic conditions. The nurse performs patient assessments, administers treatments, manages lines and airways, and collaborates closely with the healthcare team to ensure high-quality emergency care. Strong emergency department skills and excellent customer service are essential, with a focus on critical interventions and patient safety. Responsibilities:

• Perform patient assessments and provide skilled nursing care in the emergency department.
• Manage IV insertions, PICC and central lines.
• Obtain and interpret 12 lead EKGs; perform cardioversion and defibrillation as needed.
• Provide airway management including procedural sedation, CPAP/BiPAP, ventilator support, and tracheostomy care.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care and treatment planning.
• Support behavioral health patients, with preferred experience in chemical dependency cases.
• Maintain accurate patient documentation and communicate changes in condition promptly.
• Adhere to patient safety protocols and emergency department policies.

• Active Registered Nurse license in the state of practice.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in emergency nursing or a related acute care setting.
• Proficiency in IV insertion, central line and PICC management.
• Cardiac skills including 12 lead EKG acquisition and interpretation, cardioversion, and defibrillation.
• Airway management skills including procedural sedation, CPAP/BiPAP, ventilator, and tracheostomy care.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• BLS and ACLS certification.

• Experience with behavioral health and chemical dependency patient care.
• Trauma and pediatric emergency care experience (minimum trauma patients preferred).
• Additional certifications related to emergency nursing or critical care.

• Work in a high-acuity, fast-paced emergency department environment.
• Manage a nurse-to-patient ratio of approximately 1:3-4.
• Ability to handle a variety of emergency diagnoses and procedures efficiently.

• Night shift: 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, 36 hours per week.
• Shift assignments may vary based on departmental needs.
