Accounting Manager

This is an excellent interim accounting leadership opportunity with a high-growth firm based in Northern Virginia. They are looking for someone who can step in immediately, roll up their sleeves, lead the team, own the close, and help strengthen processes and close discipline. The organization has a track history of bringing on top-performing interim professionals on permanently. Responsibilities: Oversee AP, billing, and related transaction processing activities to ensure accurate, efficient day-to-day accounting operations. Maintain disciplined and timely transaction processing standards, ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and internal control requirements. Own core general ledger responsibilities, including preparation and review of journal entries. Prepare and review key account reconciliations to support a timely, accurate, and well-documented monthly close. Support close-related reporting, variance analysis, and operational accounting projects. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to promote consistent accounting processes across business units and locations. Work closely with the Controller to improve systems, streamline workflows, automate manual processes, and standardize accounting operations. Provide support for audits, government contract compliance requirements, and external reporting requests as needed. Contribute to accounting policies, process documentation, and optimization of accounting operations. Manage, coach, and develop team members responsible for daily transactional accounting activities. Qualifications: BS/BA in Accounting or Finance or related field required. CPA preferred. 6+ years’ experience, including operational accounting responsibilities. Government contracting experience preferred. Public company and/or public accounting experience preferred. Strong knowledge of government contractor accounting, US GAAP, and internal controls. Experience with transaction processing (AP, billing) and general ledger accounting. Ability to manage and develop staff and work collaboratively across functions and locations. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a continuous improvement mindset. Demonstrated ability to drive process improvement and support transformation initiatives. #J-18808-Ljbffr
