Registered Nurse Stepdown Cardiac

This position requires rotating shifts with the ability to work weekends. Applicants must be flexible to float to other facilities as needed. Candidates must have completed references submitted with their application. Experience in transplant nursing is preferred. The nurse patient ratio is typically 1:3 to 1:4. Responsibilities include: BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, cardiac telemetry monitoring, central line care and management, chest tube management, management of dysrhythmias, nasal cannula and oxygen administration, post MI and pre/post cardiac catheterization care, starting and maintaining IVs and managing cardiac drips. The unit supports a diverse patient population, including adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. Common patient diagnoses include CAD, NSTEMI, chest pain, hypoxia, CHF, and endocarditis. Special procedures may include continuous peritoneal dialysis, tracheostomy care, and TAVR. Equipment used includes high-flow oxygen delivery, external pacemakers, and wound vacs. Interdisciplinary support services are available to assist care. All candidates must have prior teaching hospital experience. Modules may be required as part of the compliance process. Travel experience is necessary for this position. References from recent employers will be needed. Floating to different departments may occur based on job specifications. Candidates should be ready to adapt to varying assignments as required. The position involves a commitment to provide safe and effective patient-centered care.
