Medical Assistant - MA

Medical Assistants (MA) in the medical office setting supports providers by delivering direct and indirect patient care in a professional, courteous, and efficient manner. The MA may assist with clinical procedures, maintains accurate documentation, and provides administrative support to ensure smooth daily operations. The MA functions within their defined scope of practice (based on office type clinic/HOD), under supervision, and in alignment with Mercy's mission and standards of care.

Position Overview

As a Medical Assistant, you'll play a vital role in delivering compassionate, high-quality care to women in our community. You'll support providers and patients throughout the visit while helping ensure smooth clinic operations.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Prepare patients for provider visits by completing the Advanced Standard Rooming process:

• Entering chief complaints
• Recording vital signs
• Reviewing medical history and allergies
• Performing thorough medication reconciliation

Work within the Encounter Guide to help close care gaps, including:

• Fall risk and depression screenings
• Breast and colorectal cancer screenings
• Diabetic eye exams

Recheck elevated blood pressures and complete documentation in Epic, including support for annual preventive visits.

Assist with in-office testing such as:

• Blood draws
• EKGs
• Mental status exams
• Walking oxygen studies
• Point-of-care testing
• Administer vaccines and injections within scope of practice.

Schedule follow-up appointments per office policy.

Collaborate closely with providers and the clinical care team to coordinate and monitor patient care plans.

Qualifications

Medical Assistant (Non-Certified): High School Diploma or GED BLS Certification required within 90 days of hire Preferred: 6 months of clinical healthcare experience

Certified Medical Assistant: High School Diploma or GED Active MA Certification/Registration (RMA, CCMA, or CMA) BLS Certification required within 90 days of hire
