Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Hold a current New York Special Education teaching certification, appropriate for middle and high school levels.
• Prior experience developing and implementing IEPs.
• Skilled in effective behavior management strategies and classroom routines.
• Proficient in differentiated instruction tailored to diverse learning needs.
• Comfortable collaborating with a Teaching Assistant and multidisciplinary specialists.
• Demonstrated background supporting students with intensive academic and behavioral requirements.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Lead a self-contained 12:1:1 classroom (up to 12 students, 1 certified teacher, 1 full-time TA).
• Develop and implement engaging, individualized lesson plans.
• Oversee and update IEP development in collaboration with school teams and families.
• Deliver evidence-based academic and behavioral interventions for a diverse student group.
• Provide training and direction for the teaching assistant to create a positive, structured learning environment.
• Communicate regularly with parents, guardians, and related service providers to ensure student progress.

This assignment runs from September through June, 8:15 am to 3:15 pm, allowing for a consistent school-day schedule and the opportunity to focus on what matters most—your students’ growth and achievement.
