Position Description Position: Associate Attorney – Immigration Law Location: 18205 N 51st Ave Ste 145, Glendale, AZ 85308 Type: Full-Time, In-Person Compensation: $80,000+, based on experience ________________________________________ About Marcus Law Firm Marcus Law Firm, PLLC is a boutique immigration law firm based in North Glendale, Arizona. Since 2018, we have represented individuals and families in a wide range of immigration matters, with a practice focused on removal defense, asylum, adjustment of status, Cuban Adjustment Act cases, humanitarian relief, family-based immigration, and appeals. Our work includes both traditional immigration matters and complex legal issues involving developing areas of immigration law. In 2025, one of the firm's cases, Matter of Roque-Izada, 29 I&N Dec. 106 (BIA 2025), was selected by the Board of Immigration Appeals for publication as a precedential decision. As our practice continues to grow, we are excited to add an Associate Attorney to our team. This is an in-person position at our North Glendale office. ________________________________________ The Opportunity The Associate Attorney will work closely with the firm's managing attorney and legal team across a range of active immigration matters. The position offers meaningful hands-on experience, including appearances before Immigration Courts and USCIS, direct interaction with clients and witnesses, participation in case strategy, and substantive legal research and writing. The Associate Attorney will receive direct mentorship, practical training, and ongoing support, with guidance tailored to their experience. We are looking for someone who is motivated to learn, takes pride in producing high-quality work, enjoys working with clients, and is excited to contribute to a growing practice. ________________________________________ Responsibilities Represent clients before Immigration Courts and USCIS in removal defense, asylum, adjustment of status, and other immigration matters. Appear at master calendar hearings, individual hearings, USCIS interviews, and other proceedings as appropriate. Meet directly with clients to evaluate cases, identify legal and factual issues, and assist in developing case strategies. Prepare clients and witnesses for interviews, hearings, and testimony. Research complex and developing issues of immigration law. Draft motions, briefs, responses, appeals, and other substantive legal filings. Review immigration records, government filings, prior applications, and supporting evidence. Manage assigned cases and deadlines from preparation through resolution, with appropriate oversight and support. Maintain clear and professional communication with clients regarding their cases. Collaborate closely with attorneys and staff to ensure matters are prepared accurately, thoroughly, and on time. Travel occasionally for detained or out-of-area matters when necessary. ________________________________________ Qualifications J.D. from an accredited law school. Admission to the bar of any U.S. state or jurisdiction and membership in good standing. Recent bar exam takers awaiting results are encouraged to apply. Any offer will be contingent upon bar passage and satisfaction of applicable admission requirements. Professional fluency in Spanish is required. The attorney must be comfortable communicating directly with Spanish-speaking clients and conducting consultations, case preparation, and witness preparation in Spanish without an interpreter. Ability to work full-time and in person at our North Glendale office. Strong legal research and writing skills. Strong oral communication and advocacy skills. Excellent organization and attention to detail. Ability to manage deadlines reliably and follow matters through to completion. Sound judgment and willingness to ask questions when appropriate. Self-motivation, dependability, and initiative. Ability to receive feedback and apply it effectively. Ability to work well as part of a small, collaborative team. Genuine interest in immigration law and serving immigrant individuals and families. Prior immigration-law experience is welcome but not required. We place substantial value on writing ability, judgment, work ethic, professionalism, aptitude, and a demonstrated interest in immigration law. Training and mentorship will be tailored to the attorney's experience and development. ________________________________________ Compensation & Benefits Compensation: Starting salary of $80,000+, based on experience. Health Insurance: Firm-sponsored health insurance available to eligible full-time employees. Retirement: 401(k) retirement plan with employer matching contributions. Paid Time Off: 10 days of paid vacation/PTO annually, plus 3 paid sick days and paid federal holidays.
