Registered Nurse

The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is seeking a Registered Nurse to support the adult Central Nervous System (CNS) Radiation Department and the Radiation Oncology Pediatric Clinic. The Registered Nurse provides clinical and administrative support for adult and pediatric patients undergoing complex radiation oncology treatment. This Registered Nurse role works closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, residents, medical assistants, and multidisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care, provide education, and support treatment management across the continuum of care.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and Oncology Nurse Certification (OCN). Candidates should demonstrate strong patient education skills, excellent communication and organizational abilities, proficiency with electronic health records, and the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams while delivering care to both adult and pediatric oncology patients. New graduates are encouraged to apply, as no prior work experience is required.

Minimum $32.69 Midpoint $50.58 Maximum $68.51 per hour

The typical work schedule is Monday Friday, 8:30am5:00pm.

Responsibilities Patient Care & Coordination

Manage patient outcomes through coordination and support of direct patient care across the continuum of care

Coordinate care for adult and pediatric patients with significant complexity and multiple points of clinical contact

Secure comprehensive patient histories and support patient assessments

Assist providers with physical examinations and clinical evaluations

Manage acute treatment-related toxicities and patient care concerns

Administer medications according to clinical protocols and standards

Communicate abnormal patient parameters to providers promptly

Patient Education

Provide education to patients in preparation for radiation treatment

Reinforce treatment-related education throughout the course of care

Deliver post-treatment education and follow-up guidance

Educate patients regarding medications, treatment plans, and symptom management

Clinic Operations

Prepare clinics for daily operations and patient visits

Stock and prepare examination rooms for clinical use

Obtain patient vital signs and document findings accurately

Escort and transport patients safely using wheelchairs when needed

Support efficient clinic workflow and patient throughput

Documentation & Administrative Support

Utilize electronic health records effectively to support patient care

Complete pre-charting activities for telemedicine visits

Enter patient information accurately into the medical record

Provide rooming documentation support

Assist with obtaining prior radiation treatment records

Assist with acquiring MRI images and related documentation

Support completion and processing of patient administrative documents

Equipment & Supply Management

Clean, store, and prepare clinical equipment for patient care

Coordinate equipment maintenance and report repair needs

Audit and maintain inventory of medical supplies

Collaborate with clinical nurses, medical assistants, radiation oncologists, advanced practice providers, residents, and multidisciplinary team members

Perform other duties as assigned

EDUCATION

• Required: Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.
• Preferred: Bachelor's Degree Nursing.

• Required: RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license. Upon Hire and

• Required: ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support If working in the following department: ASC Post Anesthesia (600761). Upon Hire or
• Required: PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support If working in the following departments: ASC Post Anesthesia (600761) or Pedi - Child & Adolescent Center (113200). Upon Hire
• Preferred: OCN - Oncology Nurse Certification Certification in specialty practice area. Upon Hire

Other Requirements: All clinical nurses with less than one year of registered nurse (RN) work experience will be required to participate in the Clinical Nurse Residency Program.
