Team Leader, Production (2nd Shift, SJ66) Job Description Job Summary: To coach associates to meet quality, cost, delivery, morale, and safety (QCDMS) targets in compliance with the quality policy and continuously working for associate’s success. Major Responsibilities Coordinate production in the specific area to meet required schedules. Control 5M changes – investigate problems/processes; notify affected departments and implement appropriate action as needed. Troubleshoot and fix machine problems. Conduct daily start‑up meetings with associates to communicate expectations and strategy. Monitor production start‑up for any abnormal conditions and take appropriate action when needed. Verify quality of your product and associates’ work. Responsible for training and development of associates. Maintain daily and monthly charts, graphs, and reports. Maintain subordinates’ documentation on time sheets, attendance, corrective action, etc. Establish and maintain operator instructions. Effectively communicate with all levels of associates. Schedule and perform preventative maintenance on machines as needed. Use Associate Success Center to implement kaizens using PDCA method. Complete daily log book with details and strategy for the next shift. Review, correct and approve associate timecards within respective areas. Make recommendations to improve productivity, quality and efficiency of operations. Assist with the company management style in a manner that promotes ownership by all associates. Act as key member of Employee Involvement with the promotion of good morale, pride and ethics throughout DMNC. Directly supervise departmental line keepers and associates within respective areas. Minor Responsibilities Require teamwork and participation and promotion of company activities such as IATF16949, ISO9001, ISO14001 and Employee Involvement. Require effective communication with team members and internal departments and related outside resources in both written and oral format. Understand, comply and consistently apply company policies and procedures fairly to all employees. Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities. Maintain 5’s standards: maintaining good housing keeping. May require some travel. Make recommendations to improve productivity, quality and efficiency of operations through continual improvement. Responsible for coordinating the establishment of production goals within respective area. May require shift work & overtime to support area of responsibility as needed. Minimum Qualifications for the Job High School Diploma or GED equivalent (must fulfill NC State or Federal educational requirements). 1-3 years manufacturing experience; supervisory experience preferred. Prefer 2 or 4 year degree in related field or equivalent related work experience. Key Competencies Proficient math and analytical skills. Proficient in Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Physical Requirements Constant standing and moving 8-12 hours per day. Constantly lift and carry up to 35 lbs. Bend, stoop, squat and kneel. Apply up to 66 lbs push/pull force unassisted.
