Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Commercial Plumber to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing systems in commercial buildings, including offices, retail spaces, schools, healthcare facilities, and industrial properties. This position requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints and schematic diagrams to plan and execute plumbing and piping installations with minimal supervision.
• Assemble and install underground and above-ground plumbing and piping systems for new commercial and industrial construction projects.
• Install rough-in plumbing, including layout and placement of piping, fixtures, and associated components above ground.
• Install underground piping systems, ensuring proper depth, alignment, and support in accordance with project specifications.
• Cut, thread, and bend pipe to required angles using appropriate tools and equipment.
• Use power tools to create passageways in floors, walls, and other structures to route pipes safely and efficiently.
• Assemble and install metal piping systems, including copper and cast iron, along with related valves and fittings.
• Assemble and install non-metal piping systems, including PVC, along with related valves and fittings.
• Join pipes using soldering and brazing techniques, as well as screws, bolts, fittings, and other hardware to create secure, leak-free connections.
• Test piping systems to verify proper operation, identify leaks or issues, and confirm that installations meet project and code requirements.
• Ensure all work meets quality standards, project specifications, and applicable codes and regulations.
• Coordinate work sequencing and material needs for the crew to maintain productivity and meet project schedules.
• Provide guidance, coaching, and on-the-job training to plumber helpers working on the crew.
• Maintain a safe work area by following safety procedures and using tools and equipment properly.
• Use personal tools and equipment responsibly and keep them in good working condition.

Essential Skills

• At least 10 years of plumbing experience, preferably on commercial and industrial construction projects.
• Proven experience installing underground plumbing systems on new construction projects.
• Proven experience installing rough-in (above-ground) plumbing systems on new construction projects.
• Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematic diagrams with minimal guidance.
• Demonstrated experience working on new industrial and commercial construction sites.
• Proficiency working with multiple piping materials, including copper, cast iron, and PVC.
• Ability to join pipes using soldering techniques.
• Ability to join pipes using brazing techniques.
• Skilled in cutting, threading, and bending pipe to precise dimensions and angles.
• Ability to assemble and install metal piping systems, including copper and cast iron.
• Ability to assemble and install non-metal piping systems, including PVC.
• Ability to use power tools safely to create openings in floors and walls for piping runs.
• Capability to test piping systems to ensure proper function and identify any issues.
• Ability to lead and provide direction to a small crew of plumbers and helpers.
• Capability to work independently without direct supervision while maintaining high-quality standards.
• Ownership of appropriate personal hand tools and basic plumbing tools needed for the job.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience leading or supervising small plumbing crews on construction projects.
• Experience in mechanical or plumbing work on large commercial facilities such as courthouses, hospitals, or hotels.
• Familiarity with construction-site safety practices and procedures.
• Comfort working on multiple active job sites as project needs change.
• Strong problem-solving skills for troubleshooting piping layouts and system performance.
• Effective communication skills to coordinate with crew members and other trades on site.

Work Environment
You will work for a mechanical, electrical, and plumbing contractor that has operated since 1993 and provides a full range of services, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, controls, planned maintenance, installation, and equipment replacement, supported by in-house engineering and design. The role is field-based on active commercial and industrial construction sites in the Greenville area, including projects such as a federal courthouse, a hotel, and healthcare facilities. Typical scheduling is structured around four 10-hour shifts from Monday to Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with the realistic expectation of working 5 to 6 days per week in 10-hour shifts (Monday through Friday, and often Monday through Saturday) depending on project demands. The work environment involves using hand tools and power tools, working in and around concrete, steel, and structural framing, and performing tasks in both underground and elevated areas. You can expect a fast-paced, production-oriented setting where coordination with other trades is common and adherence to site safety practices is essential.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $30.00/hr.
