CNC Applications Engineer, Precision TurningIndianapolis, IndianaFull time, onsite.Compensation: $90,000 to $150,000 per yearThis CNC Applications Engineer role serves as a technical authority for high precision CNC turning applications at a precision manufacturing company, supporting customer quoting, process design, and manufacturing optimization. This position partners closely with sales, operations, and quality teams to translate customer requirements into efficient, scalable machining solutions, with strong cross departmental interaction in a fully onsite environment.The Applications Engineer analyzes customer prints and specifications to develop complete machining strategies, including process flow, tooling approach, cycle time assumptions, and labor inputs for accurate quoting. This role develops, validates, and refines CNC turning processes focused on repeatability, efficiency, and manufacturability, and creates, reviews, and optimizes CNC programs with an emphasis on process robustness, tool life, and throughput, supporting programming standards and best practices. The position provides advanced technical support for complex setup, programming, or process issues as an escalation point, identifies opportunities to reduce cycle time, tooling cost, and secondary operations through improved process design, and defines tooling, collet, and workholding solutions for efficient, scalable production. This role also works with Quality teams to establish inspection strategies and process controls that ensure consistent compliance with tight tolerance requirements, and actively participates across engineering, operations, quality, and commercial teams to support manufacturability and customer success.Required QualificationsAssociate degree or equivalent technical education in Manufacturing Engineering, CNC Programming, or a related field7+ years of experience supporting CNC turning processes in a precision manufacturing environment, with a strong applications or process engineering focusDemonstrated ability to translate customer requirements into complete machining strategies rather than solely executing production workAdvanced knowledge of CNC programming principles (G-code) and CAM systems, with an emphasis on optimization and standardizationStrong understanding of CNC machine controls, servo systems, and mechanical fundamentalsExperience supporting Swiss style or comparable high precision turning platformsHigh level of mathematical and analytical aptitudeAbility to meet applicable employment eligibility and background requirementsPreferred QualificationsComfort supporting shop floor teams through technical guidance and problem resolutionExperience establishing inspection strategies or process controls in a tight tolerance environmentCompensation and Benefits$90,000 to $150,000 per yearMedical, dental, and vision insurance401(k)Paid time offTo apply, submit your resume for consideration.
