HR People Operations Generalist

Family‑owned and operated, Bake’n Joy Foods, Inc. is a leading manufacturer of top‑quality bakery products, founded in 1941. We produce a variety of products for professional bakers, including frozen scoop batters, pre‑deposited muffins, cornbread, loaf cakes, Boston Coffee Cakes, mixes, and an expanding line of fully baked items such as coffee cakes and loaf cakes. People & Culture People Operations Generalist This role is responsible for benefits and leave administration, compliance, learning management, HR systems, and the execution of key P&C programs. The Generalist serves as a trusted resource to associates and managers, ensuring compliant, efficient, and associate‑focused HR processes. Essential Functions Benefits Administration: enrollments, changes, audits, invoices, vendor coordination, and associate support. Compliance & Documentation: ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, track training, continuing education, work assessments, conduct background checks, and verify employment eligibility. Leave & Absences Management: manage FMLA, ADA, state medical leave programs, and other statutory or company‑specific leave programs; ensure consistent application and associate support throughout the leave process. Learning Program Administration: assign and launch learning activities in the Learning Management System, leverage data and reporting, coordinate in‑house and external training sessions, and manage an annual training schedule. Associate Handbook and Company Policies: maintain and administer the associate handbook, draft and update policies, partner with leadership on policy changes, communicate updates, and provide guidance to managers and associates. P&C Systems & Reporting: use ADP and other P&C management systems to maintain employee records, generate reports, and provide data‑driven insights to support P&C decision‑making. Uniform Program Management: administer the company‑wide uniform program, including new‑hire setup, uniform changes, locker coordination, vendor partnership, inventory oversight, safety compliance, and invoice auditing and processing to ensure cost accuracy and control. Confidentiality: ability to handle sensitive information with integrity and professionalism. Technology Proficiency: proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, HRIS, and talent management systems. Legal Knowledge: thorough understanding of employment‑related laws and regulations. Work Environment The role is office‑based within a food manufacturing facility and may occasionally require visits to production areas, requiring adherence to safety protocols and use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Physical Demands Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Ability to navigate different departments within the facility. Reports To Vice President of People & Culture Position Details Position Type: Full‑Time Work Hours: Core hours are Monday through Thursday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and Friday, 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Requires an in‑office presence with one remote day per week. Travel: Regional vehicular travel may be required for training, meetings, and manufacturing plant visits. Required Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related experience. Bilingual proficiency in Spanish. At least 3 years of human resource generalist experience with a focus on benefits and leave administration. Experience with multi‑state leave administration. Proficiency in HRIS and third‑party provider benefit and leave administration portals. Preferred Education & Experience Experience with ADP Workforce Now (WFN) is highly preferred. Compensation The typical starting salary range for this position is $65,000 - $85,000 per year. The salary range reflects the competitive labor market value for associates in these positions. This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
