CALTRANS ELECTRICIAN I

Caltrans Electrician I Salary: $5,686.00 - $6,812.00 per month. New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable. Under the general supervision of a Caltrans Electrical Supervisor, the electrician is responsible for the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical and electronic devices associated with State facilities. The position requires operation of light trucks, personnel hoists, vans, and automotive vehicles. Incumbent may drive heavy trucks if properly licensed. With proper training, qualification, and certification, the incumbent may be required to operate equipment such as trenchers, forklifts, air quality monitors, hoists and cranes. The incumbent must respond to emergency call‑outs before and after working hours, including holidays and weekends. Must possess a valid Class C Driver’s License. Working Conditions Position located at 30 Rickard Street, San Francisco, San Francisco County. Must have visual and color acuity adequate to perform the essential functions. Will be required to work odd hours, be available for day or night calls, keep abreast of technological changes, work up to 550 feet above pavement or water, work in the midst of traffic, and withstand adverse weather conditions. Minimum Qualifications Valid California Class C Driver’s License. Drug screening passed prior to hiring. Background investigation cleared prior to hiring. Valid unrestricted Class C Driver’s License. Valid driver’s license required for operating state‑owned or leased vehicle. Additional Qualifications Experience operating light trucks, forklifts, trenchers, or similar equipment. Experience in electrical and electronic device installation, maintenance, or repair. Ability to respond to emergency call‑outs and work during odd hours and adverse weather.
