Job Title: Assembly Operator / Plastic Operator (3rd Shift)

Job Description

The Assembly Operator / Plastic Operator plays a key role in supporting manufacturing operations by safely operating production machinery and related equipment in either assembly or plastic molding. This position ensures that products are produced efficiently, meet established quality standards, and comply with safety and food safety requirements in a clean, organized, and team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor assembly or plastic molding machines and related equipment to consistently meet production and quality standards.
• Follow established procedures for machine startup, operation, shutdown, and basic troubleshooting, including responding to alarms and restarting machines as needed.
• Perform quality inspections using visual checks, gauges, fixtures, and scales to verify that products meet specifications.
• Handle materials and manage production flow, including staging raw materials, tracking work-in-process, and organizing finished goods.
• Package products by folding, taping, labeling cartons, and palletizing according to defined requirements and standards.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in full compliance with company policies and food safety (SQF) standards.
• Communicate equipment issues, malfunctions, or maintenance needs promptly to supervisors and team members.
• Use barcode scanners to accurately track materials, production status, and product movement.
• Rework or sort defective or rejected products to ensure that only conforming products move forward in the process.
• Collaborate with team members in a team-oriented production environment to support smooth operations and continuous improvement.

Essential Skills

• Experience in production or general manufacturing environments.
• Ability to operate and monitor production machinery, including assembly and plastic injection molding equipment.
• Knowledge of basic machine operating procedures, including startup, operation, shutdown, and troubleshooting.
• Experience with packaging tasks such as folding, taping, labeling cartons, and palletizing products.
• Ability to perform visual inspections and use gauges, fixtures, and scales for quality verification.
• Capability to handle materials efficiently, including staging raw materials and tracking work-in-process and finished goods.
• Comfort working around machinery in a climate-controlled manufacturing setting with moderate noise levels.
• Ability to use barcode scanners to track materials and production.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to meeting production and quality standards.
• Ability to follow safety and food safety (SQF) guidelines and maintain a clean and organized work area.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in plastic injection molding operations.
• Prior experience in inspection and rework of defective or rejected products.
• Experience working in a team-oriented production environment.
• Willingness to adhere strictly to dress code and personal protective equipment requirements.
• Comfort communicating equipment issues and collaborating with supervisors and team members.

Work Environment

The role is based in a clean, climate-controlled manufacturing facility with moderate noise levels and machinery present. Personal protective equipment such as hairnets, beard nets (when appropriate), safety glasses, and ear plugs is required and provided. The dress code prohibits jewelry, face and body piercings, fake fingernails, and fake eyelashes to maintain safety and product integrity. Work is performed in a team-oriented production setting where adherence to safety, food safety (SQF) standards, and organized work practices is essential.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fenton, MO.

The pay range for this position is $16.50 - $16.50/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
