This entry-level general production role supports multiple departments in a fast-paced, climate-controlled shop environment. You will assist with assembling components, paint preparation, light welding, routing of poly panels, and general shop clean-up, while also helping with shipping activities and machine operations. This position is ideal for someone eager to learn a variety of manufacturing skills and grow long term within a stable, people-focused organization. The role is on 1st shift, working four 10-hour days with occasional overtime on a fifth day, never on weekends.

Responsibilities

• Support various departments throughout the shop by assisting with day-to-day production activities.
• Assemble components and pieces according to work instructions and quality standards.
• Perform paint preparation tasks, including basic surface preparation and part handling.
• Carry out tack welding and spot welding as directed, following safety and quality guidelines.
• Use routers to perform routing operations on poly panels and other materials.
• Operate hand and power tools for cutting, grinding, and general mechanical tasks.
• Assist machine operators with loading materials, monitoring processes, and basic machine operation tasks as needed.
• Help build shipping crates and prepare products for shipment to ensure safe and secure transport.
• Load and unload trucks, handling materials and finished products safely and efficiently.
• Perform general labor and shop clean-up duties to maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work area.
• Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of tools, equipment, and personal protective gear.
• Work collaboratively with co-workers and supervisors to meet production goals and deadlines.
• Demonstrate mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn new manufacturing skills and processes.

Essential Skills

• Comfort using hand tools and power tools in a shop or production environment.
• Ability to read and use tape measures accurately for basic measurements.
• Mechanical aptitude and being mechanically inclined, with interest in how parts and machines work.
• Willingness and ability to perform general production and general labor tasks.
• Capability to assist with mechanical assembly and basic assembly repair work.
• Ability to perform basic metal cutting, grinding, spot welding, and tack welding tasks with guidance.
• Comfort working with routers and performing routing operations on poly panels.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and safety.
• Reliability in attending scheduled shifts and being available for occasional overtime on a fifth day.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Some manufacturing or production experience preferred but not required.
• Experience with machine operation or assisting machine operators is a plus.
• Familiarity with general production processes and mechanical assembly is beneficial.
• Ability to perform basic paint prep tasks and handle materials safely.
• Experience building shipping crates or working in shipping and receiving environments is a plus.
• Strong work ethic and eagerness to learn and develop new skills in manufacturing.
• Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment and communicate effectively with co-workers.

Work Environment

The role is based in a shop environment that is primarily climate controlled, though temperatures can fluctuate when bay doors are open. The setting is fast paced, with frequent use of hand and power tools, routing equipment, welding tools, and general production machinery. The standard schedule is 1st shift, working four 10-hour days either Monday–Thursday or Tuesday–Friday from approximately 5:30 AM to 4:00 PM, with occasional overtime on a fifth day and no weekend work. Uniforms are provided and are part of the expected work attire, supporting a professional and safety-focused environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fenton, MO.

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $23.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
