Principal Clinical Advisor, Clinical Engineering

Abbott seeks a Principal Clinical Advisor for Clinical Engineering to provide clinical expertise during product development across manufacturing, quality, and patient safety phases. The role supports Abbott Vascular's minimally invasive device portfolio, including stents, catheters, and vessel closure devices.

Responsibilities

• Support product development by contributing clinical knowledge to device testing and performance evaluation methods
• Create clinical performance evaluation plans by engaging physicians, engineers, and regulatory personnel
• Write device Instructions For Use and participate in risk analysis for new or improved devices
• Contribute clinical perspective to product recall or field action decisions through testing and hazard assessment
• Mentor less experienced staff and influence middle management on technical or business solutions

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree plus 7+ years related work experience, or equivalent education/experience combination
• RT, RN, or RCIS certification or degree
• 4-5 years recent catheter lab experience in coronary and/or endovascular settings
• Solid understanding of business concepts and quality system environments
• Willingness to travel 30-50% including internationally
• Strong writing and verbal communication skills
• Experience interfacing with physicians and operating in sterile/fluoroscopy environments
