Job Opportunity: Accountant Location: Chester, NY 10918 (Onsite) Pay Rate: $25.00 – $31.00 / hr W2 Job Type: Contract-to-Hire Employment Type: Direct W2 Only (Strictly No Corp-to-Corp / C2C, 1099, Third-Party Agencies, or W2 Referrals) Position Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Accountant to join our finance team in Chester, NY. In this contract-to-hire role, you will prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, reconcile general ledger accounts, perform variance analyses, and ensure strict accuracy across corporate financial reporting. Key Responsibilities Financial Reporting: Compile, examine, and prepare financial statements and reports reflecting company financial performance. Assist the Controller with month-end financial statement preparation and closing reviews. GL & Variance Analysis: Reconcile general ledger accounts monthly and quarterly, perform root-cause analysis for monthly budget‑to-actual variances, and resolve inconsistencies. Budgeting & Analytical Research: Research historical financial data to support budgeting assumptions, custom reporting, and special finance projects. Issue Resolution & Compliance: Navigate complex expense and revenue reconciliation issues. Ensure SOX compliance across accounting workflows and coordinate with cross-functional teams to maintain financial integrity. Position Requirements Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required. Experience: 1–2 years of accounting, bookkeeping, or corporate finance experience preferred. Technical Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of and hands‑on experience with Microsoft Excel . Hands‑on experience with Oracle EBS or BlackLine is a plus. Compliance & Standards: Basic familiarity with GAAP and SOX compliance standards. Core Competencies: Strong quantitative analysis, problem‑solving, and organizational skills with excellent verbal and written communication.
