Development Coordinator, Foundation & Corporate Partnerships

Overview The Opportunity: Urban’s Development Department fosters a collaborative environment while strengthening funding partnerships that sustain its relevance in a changing world. The Development Department seeks a Development Coordinator (Foundation & Corporate Partnerships) to support Urban Institute’s institutional fundraising efforts, developing and implementing strategies to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward institutional donors. This role contributes to growth and the future direction of one of the nation’s leading research and policy organizations. What You’ll Do Contribute to the development and implementation of strategies to identify, cultivate, and steward philanthropic funders (foundations and corporate funders). Coordinate funder communications and outreach with Development and Communications colleagues. Support foundation and corporate fundraising teams with information management and reporting on the revenue pipeline, donor tracking, and events. Conduct in-depth research on prospective funders to identify alignment with Urban Institute. Prepare briefings, strategy memos, and other materials to inform fundraising strategies and equip senior leadership and research teams for success in meetings and events. Maintain complete files on fundraising activity in the CRM database, including correspondence with donors, meeting notes, proposals and appeal letters, and donor briefs and background information. Track and record donations, coordinate with accounting and finance teams, and craft timely and thoughtful thank you notes to donors. Who You Are Outstanding communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with technological competence. Strong initiative, sound judgment, discretion, and integrity. Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) plus 1–2 years’ experience in fundraising, nonprofit development, or related internship/volunteer work. Strong collaboration skills and a genuine interest in supporting colleagues and learning from others. Excellent oral and written communication, organizational skills, and attention to detail. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, databases, online research tools, project management tools, and familiarity with Salesforce is a plus but not required. Ability to work autonomously, solve problems effectively, and think creatively. Interest in public policy and Urban Institute’s mission. The salary range for this position is $62,115 – $69,589 – $77,063, with compensation commensurate with experience and internal comparisons.
