Senior Legal Billing SpecialistOur client is seeking a detail-oriented Senior Legal Billing Specialist to join its Accounting Department. This role plays a critical part in the firm's revenue operations by ensuring the accurate and timely processing of client invoices in accordance with client billing guidelines, attorney instructions, and firm policies.The ideal candidate will have prior billing, accounting, or legal billing experience, exceptional attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with attorneys, legal assistants, and accounting professionals in a fast-paced environment.Please note that this is a hybrid work opportunity, with employees working in the firm's Chicago office three days per week, with the option of WFH two days per week.Key ResponsibilitiesGenerate, review, and process prebills in accordance with established firm procedures and deadlinesPrepare and submit client invoices accurately and on time, including electronic billing submissionsReview and interpret billing guidelines, fee agreements, and attorney billing instructionsEnsure compliance with client-specific billing requirements and firm policiesMaintain billing instructions and client-specific information within the accounting systemResearch, troubleshoot, and resolve billing discrepancies and invoice rejectionsRespond to inquiries regarding billing history, payment status, time entries, and cost detailsCollaborate closely with attorneys, legal assistants, and accounting team members to support billing and collection effortsMaintain confidentiality of firm and client financial informationParticipate in ongoing training and professional development opportunitiesQualificationsMinimum of 3 years of billing, accounting, accounts receivable, or related experienceExperience in a law firm or professional services environment strongly preferredKnowledge of electronic billing platforms, vendor requirements, and LEDES file formats preferredStrong understanding of billing processes and invoice managementExcellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong analytical and problem-solving abilitiesExceptional attention to detail and organizational skillsAbility to prioritize multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environmentProfessional, responsive, and service-oriented approachTechnical SkillsMicrosoft Excel, Outlook, and WordElectronic billing (eBilling) platformsLEDES billing formatsZoom Workplace or similar collaboration toolsAccounting and billing software systemsExperience with Surepoint Legal Management System or Aderant is highly desirableEducation & ExperienceAssociate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferredRelevant work experience may be considered in lieu of formal educationLegal billing experience strongly preferredProfessional services billing experience will also be consideredWhy Join This Team?Hybrid work environmentCollaborative and supportive cultureOpportunity to work closely with attorneys and firm leadershipCompetitive compensation and comprehensive benefits packageProfessional growth and development opportunitiesStable organization with a strong reputation and long-term career potentialIf you have a strong billing background, enjoy problem-solving, and take pride in accuracy and client service, we encourage you to apply.
