Project Engineer

SUMMARY The Project Engineer assists the Project Team with daily management and execution of the construction process, supporting safety management, cost control, site coordination, contracting, scheduling, estimating, and contract administration to ensure successful project completion. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or related field, or equivalent construction experience. Knowledge of engineering and construction project management principles, including safety standards. Demonstrated ability to understand and learn technical systems and processes. Project management and scheduling software experience. Sustainable building experience (e.g., LEED certified projects) or knowledge of sustainable practices a plus. Certifications or accreditations such as CPR/First Aid, OSHA 30‑hour, WELL, ILFI, LEED a plus. TECHNICAL JOB KNOWLEDGE Prepares cost estimates and quantity take‑offs, generates scopes of work, and prepares preliminary schedules and site logistics. Assists with trade management and reviewing trade partner work tickets. Assists with the three‑week look‑ahead schedules. Creates and maintains tracking logs for contract documents, submittals, shop drawings, RFIs, change orders, and material deliveries. Prepares subcontract agreements and purchase orders, assists in issuing change proposals and change orders. Creates and manages quality control and deficiency logs. Maintains a complete, current, and accurate set of contract documents and as‑builts. Enforces the safety program and participates in safety walks. Assists in the project close‑out process, including job close‑out checklists and punch‑list management. CORE COMPETENCIES Autonomy and accountability, applying procedures to routine problems. Acts with discretion to improve processes to achieve results or improve efficiency. Assists in basic business development tasks. Provides mentorship to less experienced team members and may lead small projects. Problem solving and resilience, evaluating solutions with minimal oversight. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS Base salary range: $78,000.00 – $90,000.00.
