Service Technician Petroleum Equipment

This role offers a hands-on opportunity to service, repair, and maintain petroleum fueling equipment at customer sites, including gas stations, schools, and commercial buildings. You will diagnose issues on site, determine the correct repairs, and ensure equipment operates safely and reliably. Responsibilities

• Travel to customer sites to service, repair, and maintain petroleum fueling equipment, including pumps, tanks, monitors, gauges, and meter readouts.
• Troubleshoot a wide range of mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues on petroleum industry products to identify root causes.
• Order and coordinate the correct parts and materials needed to complete repairs efficiently and accurately.
• Manage, organize, and take responsibility for your service van and its inventory, ensuring tools and parts are available and in good condition.
• Use hand tools and basic electrical and electronic testing equipment to perform repairs and maintenance safely and effectively.
• Read and interpret work orders, service tickets, and related documentation to understand required tasks and customer concerns.
• Complete all paperwork and service reports accurately and in a timely manner, documenting work performed and parts used.
• Communicate clearly with customers to explain issues, repair options, and work performed in a way that is easy for them to understand.
• Maintain all required certifications and keep a strong, up-to-date knowledge of all supported equipment and systems.
• Follow all safety procedures and guidelines when working on petroleum equipment and at customer locations.
• Participate in an on-call rotation, responding to service needs during some nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
• Collaborate with team members and leadership to share knowledge, support training efforts, and continuously improve service quality.

Essential Skills

• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with the ability to work confidently with tools, equipment, and mechanical systems.
• Electronic aptitude with the ability to understand and troubleshoot basic electrical and electronic components.
• Strong troubleshooting skills, including the ability to diagnose complex issues in the field with limited information.
• Basic computer skills for reading work orders, entering service information, and completing documentation.
• Effective verbal communication skills to explain technical issues and repair solutions clearly to customers.
• Ability to read and follow work orders and instructions and to complete associated paperwork accurately and on time.
• Commitment to maintaining required certifications and staying current with supported equipment and technologies.
• Clean driving record and ability to safely operate and care for a company service van.
• Capability to work independently in the field, manage time effectively, and prioritize multiple service calls.
• Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation, including some nights, weekends, and holidays.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience as a field technician, service technician, or maintenance technician in electrical, electronic, mechanical, construction, or related environments is beneficial.
• Experience using hand tools and performing maintenance or repair work in a hands-on setting.
• Prior exposure to the petroleum or fueling industry, including pumps, tanks, monitors, gauges, or meter systems, is a plus but not required.
• Military experience or training can translate well into this position and is highly valued.
• Strong customer service mindset with the ability to build trust and maintain professional relationships at customer sites.
• Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new equipment, technologies, and procedures; training is provided as needed.
• Attention to detail and a focus on safety when working with petroleum-related equipment and environments.

Work Environment

You will work primarily in the field at customer locations such as gas stations, schools, and commercial buildings, supported by a clean, family-oriented shop that serves as your home base. The role involves daily use of hand tools and basic electrical and electronic testing equipment to service petroleum fueling systems, including pumps, tanks, monitors, gauges, and meter readouts. Typical hours run Monday through Friday with a start time around 78 a.m. and an end time around 34 p.m., with an expectation of approximately 510 hours of overtime per week. The position includes participation in an on-call rotation, which may require occasional night, weekend, and holiday work. The environment emphasizes safety, professionalism, and teamwork, with promotion from within and ongoing training on supported equipment. Dress and appearance should be appropriate for a customer-facing field service role and compliant with safety requirements.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $43680.00 - $43680.00/yr. Military friendly, pay scale increase yearly, family owned/operated.
