About the Role: It’s an exciting time to join the booming data centre industry as it continues to grow in Victoria. CDC’s expanding in the west, with sites in Brooklyn and Laverton, is looking for talent to join their teams. In this role, you support a broad team of staff responsible for the maintenance, repair and incident response of critical services and systems covering electrical, mechanical and fire. The Service Technician – Shift Team role will be the first to respond to alerts and alarms, assign the severity, prioritise the rectification and determine whether escalation is required to third‑party contractors. Shift‑team members will proactively perform inspections to ensure all critical infrastructure is operating as designed and identify any possible risk to the infrastructure and buildings. The position will monitor the critical infrastructure 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and be able to make quick decisions on prioritisations and escalations based on their experience. The shift team assists with the monitoring of all contractors conducting critical work and ensures strict adherence to pre‑defined MOPs. Other responsibilities include: Promptly responding to service requests and emergency faults. Conduct initial fault finding, determine causes, and implement remedies. Communicate repair timelines with internal teams for coordinated client communications. Perform critical switching to prevent disruptions in case of equipment failure. Ensure timely completion of planned maintenance, daily site reviews, and adherence to safety policies. About You: You’re a trade‑qualified professional (electrical, HVAC, or mechanical) with experience in critical infrastructure environments. You understand the importance of following strict procedures, monitoring asset health, and documenting incidents. You might be looking to step away from the tools and move into operations, or you could be early in your career with a keen interest in the fast‑growing data centre industry. Either way, we value motivation, eagerness to learn, and excitement to join our growing sector. Please note: this position works on a rotational 12hr shift roster (2 days, 2 nights – 4 off). Ideally, you’ll bring: Trade or tertiary qualification in Electrical, Refrigeration, or Mechanical. Experience in critical infrastructure environments with strict compliance and safety procedures. Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS) or Energy Management Systems (EMS). Exposure to data centre equipment such as CRAC units, UPS, generators, and fire systems. Skills in fault‑finding, electronic monitoring systems, and contributing to process improvements. Ability to write clear documentation and post‑incident reports. Essential: Australian Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a NV1 Security Clearance.
