Payroll Manager

Amtec Staffing is currently partnering with a leading commercial construction company in Irvine, CA to identify an experienced Payroll Manager to oversee their complete in-house payroll operation. This is a hands‑on, technical position for a detail-oriented payroll professional who enjoys owning the payroll process from start to finish while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and operational excellence. Responsibilities Process full‑cycle, in‑house payroll (weekly and biweekly) Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll laws, including California wage and hour requirements Audit payroll data for accuracy, including earnings, deductions, taxes, garnishments, and job costing allocations Reconcile payroll registers to the general ledger and assist with accounting audits Maintain payroll system configuration, tax tables, earnings codes, deductions, and reporting Prepare payroll reports, quarterly filings, year‑end processing, and W-2s Ensure timely payment and tracking of payroll taxes, garnishments, and other withholdings Research and resolve payroll discrepancies Partner with Accounting and HR leadership to improve payroll processes and internal controls Maintain payroll documentation, procedures, and compliance records Assist with administration of employee benefit programs Qualifications Proven experience processing full‑cycle, in‑house payroll Strong understanding of payroll calculations, taxes, deductions, and reporting Knowledge of California payroll laws and compliance Accounting mindset with experience reconciling payroll reports Excellent attention to detail and strong auditing skills Experience with cloud‑based payroll systems and Microsoft Excel Ability to manage multiple priorities while working independently Professional, organized, and highly confidential when handling sensitive information Preferred Experience Construction or project‑based industry payroll experience is a plus Experience with payroll system implementations or process improvements Bonus opportunity 401(k) with Company Match Stable, collaborative, and team‑oriented work environment Opportunity to make an immediate impact with a growing organization #J-18808-Ljbffr
