SOUS CHEF (FULL TIME)

Overview We are hiring immediately for a full-time Sous Chef position at Bon Appétit Management Company, located at Gallaudet University, 800 Florida Avenue Northeast, Washington, DC 20002. Online applications accepted. Responsibilities Assist the Executive Chef in preparing and cooking foods following approved recipes and production standards. Supervise hourly kitchen staff, including training, scheduling, and contributing to performance feedback as appropriate. Store and handle food in designated areas following all food safety and sanitation procedures. Maintain sanitation of equipment, supplies and utensils; ensure proper food handling, presentation, portion control, and serving temperatures. Interact with customers to resolve questions or concerns in a service-oriented manner and relay information to the supervisor as needed. Ensure understanding of daily menu items and clearly communicate them to associates and customers. Monitor peak production and service hours; manage inventory and deliveries; track production, consumption and waste; notify supervisor when supplies are low. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Previous chef experience is required. Schedule: Full-time; Monday through Saturday, 4:30 PM to 2:30 AM. Strong leadership and teamwork skills, with ability to supervise and coordinate kitchen activities and maintain high standards of food safety and sanitation. Compensation and Benefits Pay range: $25.00 per hour to $27.00 per hour. Internal Employee Referral Bonus available.
