Assistant ControllerFor over 50 years, ABL Wholesale Distributors has been a premier single-source distributor serving retailers throughout Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. We are currently seeking an Assistant Controller to join our team.The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented accounting professional who will support the Company's accounting department by overseeing daily accounting processes, maintaining internal controls, and providing accurate financial reporting and analysis.ResponsibilitiesManage the general ledger and month-end and year-end close processesPerform routine account analysis and prepare journal entriesPrepare financial statements and balance sheet reconciliationsPerform routine banking transactions through online banking platformsSupervise daily accounts receivable and accounts payable functionsOrder cigarette tax stamps and prepare and submit related tax returnsParticipate in monthly inventory and partner with the Inventory Manager to support accurate inventory reportingProvide backup support for accounts receivable and accounts payable functions as neededAnalyze and evaluate internal controls and recommend improvements when necessaryPerform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned based on business needsSkills and QualificationsStrong knowledge of accounting principles and proceduresExperience with accounting software and databases; AS400 experience is a plusStrong data analysis, critical thinking, and problem-solving skillsExcellent time management and organizational skills with strong attention to detailExcellent communication and interpersonal skills5–7 years of relevant work experience; corporate accounting experience preferredBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field requiredBenefitsPaid time offHealth benefits401(k) with company matchLife insuranceSalary: $69,000–$75,000, based on experience
