General Manager - East Region (New York)

About the role

We're not looking for a traditional operator. We're looking for someone who becomes the owner of Picnic across the East Region.

Picnic has scaled its group-delivery model, same prices as takeout, no fees, no tips, across every major U.S. city. The East Region spans New York, Boston, Toronto, Atlanta, Chicago, Denver, Houston, Dallas, and Austin. You'll build out the local team in each city (City Managers, Ops Managers, Growth Leads, Community Managers) and own the full P&L across sales, operations, and restaurant partnerships.

You'll set GTM strategy, build restaurant and account relationships, and run marketing and logistics across nine cities, all while working closely with the broader Atoms leadership team. Think of yourself as an owner running a portfolio of markets, with Atoms behind you.

What you'll do

Set the strategy

• Read competitor activity and customer preference across each city and turn it into a coherent GTM strategy for the region.
• Decide where to invest, where to hold, and where to walk away, city by city.

Build the relationships

• Build and sustain a high-value network of C-suite office contacts and restaurateurs across all nine cities.
• Become the person both sides trust to get things done, wherever you are in the region.

Own the P&L

• Run sales, operations, and restaurant partnerships as one connected business across the East Region.
• Drive cost efficiency and be able to point to a concrete savings or margin win you delivered.

Use data to move fast

• Get comfortable with ambiguity and thrive with little guidance.
• Use data to make decisions across markets, and look for ways to automate and simplify wherever you can.

Make lunch fun

• Bring creative, bold marketing instincts to the table.
• Build engagement and make Picnic something people look forward to, in every city you run.

Build the team

• Hire, train, and inspire City Managers, Ops Managers, Growth Leads, and Community Managers across the region.
• Take real fulfillment in developing the people who work for you.

Who you are

• A strategic, versatile problem solver who can operate across GTM, relationship building, execution, data, marketing, and team building at once, and do it across multiple markets simultaneously.
• Someone who treats a region like their own business, not a set of territories to manage.
• Comfortable building the playbook rather than waiting for one.
• Genuinely passionate about food and about building things hands-on.

What we’re looking for

• 2 to 5 years at a top-tier consulting firm (McKinsey, BCG, Bain), a top-tier bank or PE firm, or an MBA from a leading business school.
• 2 to 3 years of operating or entrepreneurial experience.
• Previous P&L responsibility is a plus.
• Previous food delivery, marketplace, or B2B experience.
• Thrives in ambiguity, needs little guidance, and enjoys rolling up their sleeves.
• Run a region: Own nine cities end to end and build the team, the playbook, and the results yourself.

What else you need to know

This role is based in our New York office location. As a company driven by innovation and continuous change, close collaboration is essential. We’re constantly reimagining our industry, creating new products, and refining our processes, and we do our best work together. That’s why all of our office-based teams work onsite, five days a week.

The base salary range for this role is $223,000 - $280,000 per year.

Actual compensation will be determined on an individual basis and may vary depending on experience, skills, and qualifications.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package. You may also be eligible for equity awards and an annual performance-based bonus.
