The successful candidate will bring strategic oversight into financial operations, ensuring the Division's fiscal integrity and compliance with GAAP, GASB, and all applicable state and federal regulations.The Accountant 3 serves as the lead for the General Ledger unit, providing guidance, expertise, and workflow coordination for the Accounting Technician 1, 2 and 3 staff while supporting the Accountant 4, Systems Manager, in maintaining accurate and efficient statewide accounting operations.Key responsibilities include:Responsible for receipts and disbursements of cash, recording of assets, liabilities, revenues, expenses, and fund equity accounts for all active and historical loan funds.Primary back-up to the Accountant 4, Systems Manager, and is the default delegate to cover for the Systems Manager in their absence.Prepare and present financial statements and reports for internal leadership and external agencies.Reconcile and consolidate current and prior year expenditures against each loan fund and assist and advise the Accountant 4, Systems Manager with asset classifications and allocations.Conduct ongoing cash flow analysis and reconciliation between IRIS and LOANS, the Division's loan servicing platform.If you're energized by leadership, thrive in a fast-paced accounting environment, and want to play a central role in improving the systems that keep Alaska's financial operations running smoothly, this is your opportunity to shine and make a real difference.Our organization, mission and culture: The Division of Investments has an unwavering commitment to exceptional customer service and is exemplified through proactive engagement with our valued customers. To be successful in this position a candidate will need the following core competencies:Accounting Operations: Knowledge of general ledger accounting and the control/subsidiary account relationships and reconciliation techniques, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and disbursing officer's accountability.Analytical Thinking/Problem Solving: Uses a logical, systematic, sequential approach to address problems or opportunities or manage a situation by drawing on one's knowledge and experience base and calling on other references and resources as necessary.Audit Reporting: Knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques used to report audit findings (criteria, condition, cause, effect, and recommendation).
