Location: Houston, TX – Local Candidates Only
Hourly rate: $56.00/hour
Contract: 6 Months

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Permitting Specialist to support capital maintenance and expansion projects in Houston, TX . This role will manage environmental permitting activities, provide technical guidance to project teams, coordinate external consultants, and ensure compliance with federal and state environmental regulations.

Candidates must be local to the Houston area.

Key Responsibilities

• Support environmental permitting for capital maintenance and expansion projects.

• Prepare and manage complex permit applications, renewals, approvals, and variances.

• Manage environmental consultants and review technical deliverables.

• Develop permitting schedules and coordinate requirements with project milestones.

• Provide guidance on FERC, NEPA, Clean Water Act, ESA, NHPA , and related requirements.

• Conduct environmental compliance audits, risk assessments, and due diligence.

• Coordinate construction-phase environmental compliance and restoration commitments.

• Work with regulatory agencies, project teams, and stakeholders to resolve permitting issues.

• Monitor regulatory changes and assess potential impacts to project schedules and costs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required

• Minimum 4 years of environmental experience

• Strong knowledge of federal and state environmental permitting, including FERC and NEPA

• Experience managing multiple permits for large-scale projects

• Strong project coordination and consultant management skills

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Microsoft Office proficiency

• Must be local to Houston, TX
