Job Title: Manufacturing Technician – Formulation Department

Job Description

This role is responsible for manufacturing pharmaceutical assemblies in a GMP-compliant environment, with a focus on preparing solutions and production materials in the Formulation Department. The Manufacturing Technician supports all stages of the production process, including equipment setup, formulation, in-process testing, packaging, and documentation, to ensure high-quality, compliant products.

Responsibilities

• Perform setup, verification, and teardown of manufacturing and formulation equipment before and after processing.
• Prepare solutions, excipient formulations, spray coating formulations, and production materials according to established procedures.
• Carry out manufacturing tasks including fabrication, in-process testing, and packaging of pharmaceutical assemblies.
• Document all production activities accurately and legibly in manufacturing lot history records and other GMP documentation.
• Clean and sanitize production equipment and production areas to maintain a controlled and compliant environment.
• Utilize pipettes, micro balances, and other laboratory tools to measure and handle materials with precision.
• Perform basic analysis of production and test data as needed to support process control and product quality.
• Formulate polymers and spray coating formulations following standard operating procedures.
• Set up coating machines, coat, inspect, and fold balloon catheters in accordance with specifications.
• Ensure all activities comply with current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), standard operating procedures (SOPs), and aseptic techniques.
• Support cleanroom and manufacturing operations by following sanitization and contamination control procedures.
• Collaborate with team members to meet production schedules, including working some Saturdays as needed for the Formulation Department (11:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. shift).

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 2 years of related experience in pharmaceutical or medical device manufacturing, specifically supporting formulation or similar operations.
• Hands-on experience working in a GMP manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency with aseptic techniques and aseptic handling of materials.
• Ability to follow and adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Experience with cleanroom or controlled manufacturing environments.
• Demonstrated ability to perform assembly, fabrication, and packaging tasks in a medical device or pharmaceutical setting.
• Ability to use pipettes, micro weights, and other laboratory tools accurately.
• Strong attention to detail for documentation in manufacturing lot history records and GMP logs.
• Capability to perform basic data analysis related to in-process testing and production results.
• Understanding of sanitization practices and contamination control in a cleanroom or manufacturing environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Medical device, pharmaceutical, laboratory, or chemical manufacturing experience is highly beneficial.
• Experience with balloon catheters, coating machines, or drug-device combination products is a plus.
• Familiarity with polymer formulation and spray coating processes is an advantage.
• Comfort working with detailed procedures and quality standards in a regulated environment.
• Ability to work the 11:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. shift in the Formulation Department, with some Saturdays as needed.
• Strong teamwork, communication, and reliability in meeting production goals.

Work Environment

This role is based in a cleanroom and manufacturing environment, working with pharmaceutical and medical device products under strict GMP conditions. You will regularly use laboratory and production equipment such as pipettes, micro balances, coating machines, and other formulation tools. Work is performed on an 11:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. shift in the Formulation Department, with some Saturdays required as production needs dictate. The environment emphasizes cleanliness, sanitization, and adherence to aseptic and contamination control procedures to ensure product quality and patient safety.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Irvine, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.20 - $26.40/hr.
