Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a NICU III position requiring 3+ years of solid NICU experience and Advanced NRP certification.

Details

• Level III NICU unit caring for neonates and infants
• 13-week night shift assignment, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-07:30
• Floating required to L&D and possibly between OCM and SMC facilities
• Weekend shifts scheduled as needed based on unit needs
• Occasional charge nurse shifts required
• Uses Omnicell medication system, EPIC documentation, and SBAR communication

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Current certifications: BLS, NRP, and Advanced NRP
• Minimum 3 years of solid NICU experience required
• Level III or Level IV NICU experience with focus on 1:1 and 1:2 care and high-risk delivery/admits
• Charge nurse experience required
• EPIC charting experience required
• Experience attending high-risk deliveries
• Skilled in care for neonates across all gestational ages (<24-28 weeks, 29-34 weeks, >34 weeks)
• Proficient in dysrhythmia interpretation/management, blood glucose monitoring, and insulin administration
• Experience with phototherapy, breastfeeding support, and various feeding methods (bottle, breast, gavage)
• Skilled in placement/management of oral/nasogastric/nasojejunal tubes
• Experience with isolation precautions and sepsis workups
• Proficient in administration of blood and blood products
• Skilled in arterial line management, central line blood draws, and starting/maintaining IVs
• Experience with UAC and UVC management
• Proficient in neonatal dosage calculations and administration of antibiotics/antivirals and anti-seizure medications
• Experience with IV vasopressors and assisting with lumbar punctures
• Knowledge of neonatal abstinence syndrome and seizure disorder management
• Skilled in APGAR scoring, developmental care, and patient/family teaching
• Proficient in phlebotomy and thermoregulation techniques
• Experience with respiratory interventions including Bubble CPAP, HFNC, high frequency ventilation, inhaled nitric oxide, oscillators, and Vapotherm
• Skilled in ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP)
• Experience with chest tube and tracheostomy management
• Experience managing respiratory distress syndrome and endotracheal tube suctioning
• One professional reference required (within 2 years)
• Nursys report required, pulled within 2 weeks of consideration

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive neonatal nursing care across varying acuity levels including high-risk deliveries and admits
• Collaborate with the care team using SBAR communication standards
• Navy blue scrubs required
• RTO must be submitted at time of consideration and cannot be added afterward
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• Previous permanent staff of the facility are not eligible for consideration
• Local candidates accepted at a lower rate
