What you'll be doing

The Talent Acquisition team plays an important role in helping CIBC attract exceptional talent who will shape the future of our Commercial Banking business. As a Senior Recruiter, Commercial Banking, you'll lead full-cycle recruitment across a diverse portfolio of specialized roles, partnering closely with hiring managers and senior business leaders to understand talent needs and deliver thoughtful, high-quality hiring strategies. You'll proactively identify and engage top talent across areas such as Commercial Client Services, Relationship Management, Portfolio Management, Business Banking, Mid-corporate Banking, Treasury Management, and Commercial Real Estate.

You'll manage the candidate experience from sourcing through offer and onboarding, while coordinating interviews, supporting competitive offers, and ensuring a smooth and professional process throughout. You'll also use market insight, strong relationship management, and creative sourcing strategies to help build diverse talent pipelines for niche and hard-to-fill roles. In everything you do, you'll contribute to an inclusive, client-focused, and well-governed recruitment experience.

This role is based in Chicago, and you will be expected to be in-office 2 days per week .

How you'll succeed

Talent acquisition strategy - Lead full-cycle recruitment for Commercial Banking roles by developing sourcing strategies, screening candidates, managing requisitions, and identifying top talent aligned to business needs.

Business partnership - Build strong relationships with hiring managers, senior leaders, and cross-functional partners to understand workforce needs, provide market insight, and support effective hiring decisions.

Candidate experience - Manage candidate communications throughout the recruitment and onboarding lifecycle, ensuring a professional, timely, and engaging experience from initial outreach to hire.

Operational excellence - Coordinate interview logistics, support the development of competitive offers in partnership with compensation, complete background check processes, and ensure onboarding activities are completed accurately.

Proactive sourcing - Use online tools, internal systems, networks, and non-traditional sourcing methods to build strong talent pipelines for specialized and niche skill sets across Commercial Banking.

Risk and governance - Follow all applicable policies, guidelines, and controls, escalate issues appropriately, and support a strong risk culture through sound judgment and responsible hiring practices.

Who you are

You have relevant experience. You bring 7-10 years of recruitment experience, with strong expertise hiring within Commercial Banking or Financial Services.

You're passionate about people. You build trusted relationships with hiring managers, senior leaders, candidates, and external partners through credibility, responsiveness, and professionalism.

You act like an owner. You can manage a high-volume requisition load, balance competing priorities, and take initiative to move hiring processes forward with efficiency and care.

You know that details matter. You bring strong organizational skills and attention to detail when coordinating interviews, reviewing candidate information, completing background checks, and supporting onboarding activities.

You're digitally savvy. You use recruiting tools and sourcing channels confidently, and you can demonstrate experience in talent sourcing, online recruiting resources, and applicant tracking systems. It’s an asset if you have experience with Workday and inclusive sourcing practices.

You have a degree/diploma in Human Resources, Psychology, or a related field.

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $110,000.00 - $125,000.00 for the market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which may also include a discretionary bonus component.
