Compliance Officer I

Summary Of Work In this position, you will provide taxpayer assistance daily and be on the phone frequently answering a variety of compliance questions. You will work with systems that manage a variety of taxes in the sales and special taxes area and work to become knowledgeable about North Dakota tax law, administrative rules, and exemption requirements. Duties of the position include: Assist taxpayers, providing information regarding tax law, administrative rules, policy, and department procedures. Research and maintain a working knowledge of sales and special tax laws, rules, and administrative policies to provide excellent taxpayer assistance and efficient processing of taxpayer requests and section programs. Assist in the administration of sales tax compliance section processes and programs. Utilize the department's integrated tax system and database software to complete work duties. Minimum Qualifications Requires one of the following: Bachelor's degree; OR High school diploma/GED and 4 or more years' experience in banking, bookkeeping, business administration, legal, public administration, economics, or similar field; OR A combination of education and experience as defined above totaling at least 4 years.
