Accounting Manager

Our client, a mission-driven organization, is seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee general ledger activities and support financial reporting in a dynamic environment.



Location:
Moraga, CA. This position follows a hybrid work schedule, 4 days/week in the office.



Job Description:
This role partners closely with finance leadership to ensure accurate reporting, strengthen controls, and improve accounting processes. The ideal candidate is technically strong, detail-oriented, and experienced in managing close processes and audit support while leading a small team.



Responsibilities:

• Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow reporting
• Lead month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate results
• Support audit processes, including preparation of schedules and coordination with external auditors
• Perform and review balance sheet reconciliations and account analyses
• Manage and oversee accounting for various funds or restricted accounts as applicable
• Apply revenue recognition and other accounting standards in day-to-day operations
• Research and resolve technical accounting issues
• Develop and enhance internal controls to ensure compliance and mitigate risk
• Partner with finance leadership to improve accounting policies, procedures, and workflows
• Enhance financial systems, reporting tools, and processes to increase efficiency and accuracy
• Oversee and review submissions from internal departments to ensure accuracy and compliance
• Lead and manage a small accounting team, providing guidance and development

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
• CPA or CPA-eligible preferred
• 4 years of progressive accounting experience, including a public accounting background, preferred
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting principles
• Experience with month-end close, reconciliations, and audit support
• Understanding of internal controls and process improvement initiatives
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
• Proficiency in Excel and accounting systems
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
