The Scheduler performs clerical and communication functions in the department/clinic. They schedule patient appointments and provide courteous reception at the department/clinic front desk. They answer phones, register new patients, and complete various office duties, including filing and sorting. They review new patient referrals and authorizations for coding, perform registration, verify insurance, and schedule as necessary. They work with all physicians in the department/clinic and serve as the first point of contact for patients, providing consistent customer service in accordance with the Center's mission and vision. Essential Duties Act as the positive face of the Health Center as the main point of contact for participants and families. Support center operations by greeting and checking in patients at the front desk, scheduling appointments, and performing other front desk functions. Schedule appointments, confirm patient availability, and review appointment details with the caller for accuracy. Act as an advocate/liaison for patients and the Health Center and continuum of care as appropriate. Answer telephone promptly and in a polite professional manner; direct calls to other departments as needed. Use sound judgment in handling calls, especially with upset patients and determine when to elevate calls. Maintain delegated worklists (tasks) through the electronic medical record. Handle patient requests and questions appropriately. Provide benefit plan and eligibility information to participants, providers, unions, employers and others. Adhere to Culinary Health Center and Jayakumar NV PC policies and procedures; perform care coordinator duties when assigned. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Understanding of medical terminology. Ability to interview patients and interface with physicians, nurses, and other professional staff. Preferred Qualifications One year working in a customer service environment, preferably in a medical setting. Required Licenses & Certifications Fire Life Safety Training (LA City). If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and renewed before expiration date (required only within LA City). Hourly rate range: $21.00 - $27.01.
