About the Position

TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified SICU RN in New Orleans, Louisiana, 70121!

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (18:45 - 07:15) Experience: Minimum of 2 years in specialty License: Compact or state license required upon submission Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Experience in high acuity ICU - Ability to float to other ICUs and SDUs - Epic experience required - Experience with PA catheters and balloon pumps preferred - No block scheduling requests Description: This position involves caring for patients in a high acuity environment. The patient ratio is 1:2. Candidates must be comfortable being assigned to an emergency team if needed. Previous charge experience is preferred. Experience in transplant recovery for liver, heart, lungs, kidney, and pancreas patients is required. Candidates should possess skills in accessing and managing ports, arterial line management, and care of ventilated patients. Experience with continuous renal replacement therapy is a plus. Additional skills required include management of multisystem organ dysfunction/failure and interpretation of arterial blood gases. Candidates should also have experience in post-operative care for cardiac and general surgery patients. Specific experience in intra-aortic balloon pump management and ECMO is required. Familiarity with surgical intensive care protocols and various critical care interventions is essential. Candidates should be adept at managing cardiac drips and vasoactive drips. Those applying should be prepared to provide references upon request. The role may involve working with interdisciplinary teams including physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services. Candidates must be willing to comply with facility policies and procedures. This role requires commitment to patient care and an ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
