Role and Responsibilities

Provides safe, competent nursing care for patients in accordance with facility policies, standards and philosophy.  Provides professional leadership and support to the healthcare team.  The concepts of Patient Centered Care will provide the foundation for all nursing activities.  Demonstrates Service Excellence standards at all times.  ED Nurse – Recognizes the signs and symptoms of stroke and calling a stroke alert overhead. Verbalizes stroke alert process. Performs NIHSS and bedside swallow, assists with telemedicine consult and physician examination/evaluation of thrombolytic therapy inclusion/exclusion criteria, mixing, administration  and monitoring of thrombolytic therapy if patient deemed a candidate, preparation of patient for  Endovascular treatment as indicated, assumes patient care while in the Emergency Department.  Maintains currency in stroke knowledge by completing the NIHSS training and a minimum of   8 hours of stroke related training annually. Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Requirements:

• Graduate of an accredited or NLN-approved RN program. BSN preferred.
• Requires a minimum of 2 years emergency room experience. 
• BLS, ACLS, PALS (current upon hire)
• TNCC (within 6 months of hire)
• Current Florida nursing license.
• Must successfully pass any pre-employment assessment(s) required by the facility.
