Minimum 6 months Paraprofessional or Special Education experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Step into a highly rewarding opportunity supporting students as an Instructional Assistant/Paraprofessional on a contract basis. Seeking enthusiastic professionals ready to start as soon as possible. The role involves working 1:2 with elementary-aged students, primarily focusing on a fifth grader who uses a wheelchair and has cerebral palsy, as well as a classmate with asthma. Candidates who have experience in special education and are familiar with medical needs in school settings will find this position especially meaningful.
Key Qualifications:
- Experience as a Paraprofessional or Instructional Assistant in a school environment
- Prior SPED (Special Education) background required
- Familiarity with medical needs and procedures is highly valued
- Comfortable providing toileting, feeding, and mobility assistance to students
- Compassionate, patient, and able to collaborate with educational teams
- Ability to support students in a 1:2 setting, focusing on individualized needs
Position Responsibilities:
- Provide daily hands-on support for two students, ensuring safety and accessibility throughout the school day
- Focus primarily on assisting a student who is wheelchair bound, including help with mobility, toileting, and feeding
- Support both students as needed with classroom participation and personal care
- Follow individualized plans and collaborate closely with teachers and therapists
- Maintain accurate and confidential communication regarding student progress and needs
- Ensure a positive and inclusive learning environment
