Job Description:

We are seeking an Enterprise Payments Industry Sales Specialist to serve as a payments-industry subject matter expert driving business development within Financial Services & Retail markets. This role will partner closely with Enterprise Account Managers, Solution Engineers, and technology specialists to identify, shape, and advance opportunities across the payments ecosystem.

The ideal candidate brings deep, current knowledge of the payments industry and understands the business and technology trends affecting banks, payment processors, merchant acquirers, payment service providers, fintechs, card networks, and large retailers. This individual should be able to engage business and executive stakeholders credibly, recognize where customer payment environments are evolving, and translate those challenges into opportunities for HPE's FSI portfolio.

This is not a traditional account-management role. The successful candidate will act as the payments-industry expert and a catalyst for new business: bringing market insight into account teams, creating and developing opportunities, and helping HPE lead strategic customer conversations without requiring extensive ramp-up on the payments industry.

Responsibilities

• Serve as HPE's payments-industry specialist within assigned Financial Services & Retail accounts, bringing current market, customer, and competitive insight into account strategy and customer engagements.
• Partner with Enterprise Account Managers, Solution Engineers, and technology specialists to identify, qualify, shape, and advance new business opportunities across the payments ecosystem.
• Develop relationships with business, technology, and executive decision-makers across banks, payment processors, merchant acquirers, payment service providers, fintech organizations, card networks, and large retailers.
• Use deep payments-industry knowledge to uncover customer priorities and challenges related to payment modernization, transaction processing, payment switching, digital and real-time payments, merchant payments, payment orchestration, tokenization, and evolving payment architectures.
• Translate payments business challenges and industry trends into relevant HPE technology conversations spanning out FSI portfolio, AI, and supporting infrastructure.
• Create opportunities from the ground up through targeted prospecting, industry relationships, account insight, and collaboration with HPE account teams; contribute to new-logo acquisition and expansion within strategic accounts.
• Lead or support executive briefings, discovery sessions, presentations, and solution-oriented customer conversations that connect payments priorities with HPE capabilities.
• Orchestrate the appropriate HPE technical, solution, and account resources throughout complex sales cycles while remaining the payments-industry voice within the pursuit.
• Develop short- and long-term opportunity strategies, map key stakeholders, and maintain disciplined pipeline and opportunity management.
• Stay current on payments-industry trends, market drivers, emerging technologies, competitive developments, and regulatory or ecosystem changes that influence customer investment priorities.
• Travel approximately 30–40% based on customer and business needs. Role may be performed remotely within the approved geography

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• 5+ years of relevant experience across payments, financial technology, payment software/solutions, or adjacent payments consulting and business development environments.
• Demonstrated experience within the payments ecosystem, such as retail payments, merchant payments, payment processing, issuer/acquirer solutions, payment switching, payment orchestration, real-time or account-to-account payments, digital payments, or related payment infrastructure.
• Experience working with or selling to organizations such as banks, payment processors, merchant acquirers, payment service providers, fintech companies, card networks, or large enterprise retailers.
• Demonstrated commercial experience creating, developing, or advancing complex customer opportunities. Experience carrying a sales quota or directly contributing to new-business revenue is strongly preferred.
• Experience operating in a specialist, , solution-consulting, business-consulting, or industry-advisory capacity alongside account and technical teams is highly valued.
• Proven ability to engage executive and senior business stakeholders and influence complex, multi-stakeholder buying decisions.
  

Knowledge and Skills:

• Deep understanding of the payments ecosystem, including how payment transactions move across issuers, acquirers, processors, networks, merchants, and payment service providers.
• Strong knowledge of current payments-industry trends, customer priorities, competitive dynamics, and market drivers.
• Working knowledge of payment modernization concepts such as transaction processing and switching, merchant payments, digital and real-time payments, payment orchestration, tokenization, account-to-account payments, and modern payment architectures.
• Ability to connect payments-industry business challenges to enterprise technology and infrastructure opportunities without needing to be the primary technical architect.
• Strong new-business orientation with the ability to originate opportunities, build relationships with new stakeholders, and create momentum in accounts rather than relying solely on opportunities generated by others.
• Consultative discovery and business-development skills, with the ability to ask informed questions and establish credibility with both business and technical audiences.
• Executive-level communication, presentation, storytelling, and relationship-management skills.
• Ability to orchestrate cross-functional teams and collaborate effectively with account executives, solution engineers, product specialists, partners, and other internal stakeholders.
• Strategic curiosity and the ability to continuously learn as the payments market, technologies, and customer operating models evolve.

This range reflects the minimum to maximum combined base and target-level sales compensation that would be paid if the hire performs at 100% of their sales plan. Of that on-target pay amount, the mix of base salary and target-level sales compensation is 60%/40%."
